It's 2024, you can still eat cereal, and you can watch the 1993 Gladiators series at your leisure.

I was just going to comment on how money bags in 1993 was able to afford cable TV like that .... I was more than happy in 1993 to eat cereal and read what as on the box because the TV we had access to either had Days of our Lives, the Greatest Story Ever Told, an educational program on algebra, local news or a grainy, static filled channel that might have been illegally broadcast porn.

It wasn’t only on cable TV was it? I swear I remember watching it on local broadcast before my parents had cable.

I was 24 years old, but yeah, that’s still accurate.

[–] Nusm@yall.theatl.social 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So close, my birthday is in two weeks, then I’ll start getting the magical old man discounts. And I’m taking them too. I lived this long without dying, so I feel like I’ve earned them!

IHOP, Cracker Barrel, and Hardee's are calling.

[–] Nusm@yall.theatl.social 4 points 1 year ago

Oh, I’ve got a list, and I’m gonna use every one!

The best is that I get 15% off my groceries at Publix if I buy on Wednesday. With today’s prices, that can start to add up to quite a chunk of change in my favor. New grocery day - Wednesday!

The BBC have rebooted the British version recently, it's not the same of course, but they're definitely trying to hit the same vibes as the original

[–] ramble81@lemm.ee 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Honestly you could redo it with the same sets and outfits and people would still watch it.

[–] Num10ck@lemmy.world 0 points 1 year ago

should recast with femboys shrieking while fumbling the bazookas.

I randomly got this theme song stuck in my head a couple weeks ago. I hadn’t seen or heard the show mentioned since I was a wee babe 30 years ago. So crazy to see this pop up not long after I remembered it
