@ulfi @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I've been using GNOME, and I'm really impressed with KDE 6.4. It feels very polished. And the colour management is incredible. I wish there was a detailed discussion/explanation somewhere, just on that specific topic. I want to know why I'm liking the colour management so much now. 😉

@ami
There was a grapheneos post some months ago calling e a scam. Read it for yourself. Was on their website

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I like how these screenshots are both the trans pride and regualr pride colours
@aerion
Not to be that guy, but the fairphone 5 runs the de-googlified /e/ @e_mydata just fine. (Writing from one now).
Thanks to the very open way #FairPhone handles its OEM codes installing it without rooting it was a breeze.

Akademy-es kicks off again today at 10 CEST!
https://www.kde-espana.org/akademy-es-2025
We will be installing Linux on attendees computers in our installfest and running demos and activities from our booth.
¡Come and set your computer free!
@aerion
At the very least, it should run lineage. The price for a ff5 in the usa is ridiculous.
I'm considering possibly an eink phone too.
@geerlingguy @fairphone @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social
@ChemicalTribe
Google does this to a lot of developers, arbitrary decisions, with often little to no recourse.
It's the same story on YouTube, most recently with @geerlingguy and his video on installing LibreElec, a totally legal endeavour that does NOT depend on or promote piracy.
He got it restored in the end, but I doubt he'd have managed that if his channel hadn't been the size it is.
I wish I could entirely liberate myself from Google, but when it came to choosing between a Pixel phone + GrapheneOS or the hyper ethical and sustainable Fairphone 5, I had no choice but to pick the latter. So, I'm still tied to a 🤬 Google account.
I hope GrapheneOS will consider supporting the Fairphone range of phones at some point, as they offer even longer support than Google does for their Pixels, making it an ideal and stable target platform.
@aerion
Google has always grinded an axe for Conversations. Too bad because that's how he gets funding for it vs fdroid.

Are batches of bare USB like that costly? and where do you find them?
Getting ready for the Akademy-es Linux installfest that will be held in Málaga on Saturday.

Málaga, let's free your computers!

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social @NGIZero It's exciting to see new (and returning!) contributor names this time around!
Hey! In what property do You consider Your device to be crappy, i.e. why doesn't Bimba work on it?
@kde @kde@lemmy.kde.social Once @archlinux @archlinux gets Plasma 6.4, I'm updating! (I already have most of the changes via the KDE Frameworks updates, but) Plasma 6.4 looks REALLY GOOD! Well done to the KDE team!
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social So... I can finally get rid of those fugly sound indicators again - hopefully. If so: Thank you!
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social One feature which made me switch to KDE is the password dialog which describe *what* exactly asks for the password.
Not perfect but better than other DEs.
KDE is part of the #EndOf10 campaign and we are on a mission to convert as many users over to Linux as we can.
https://kde.org/for/w10-exiles/
This is the perfect time to ditch Windows and get the new and shiny Plasma 6.4 for your machine!
Check out the upcoming events where you can get Linux installed on your computer:
Note that due to unforeseen circumstances, we have been unable to ship the new wallpaper, "Reef", with this version of Plasma. However, a new wallpaper will be coming soon in the next 6.2 version of Plasma.
If you can't wait, you can download "Reef" from here:

During the Clinton era Microsoft was a hair's breadth away from being broken apart for all its anti-competitive monopolistic shenanigans -- including the browser war thing that you mention.
But then Bush Junior got into power (I resist using the words "was elected") and he swept all that away.
@kde@floss.social
I remember decades ago when a US court convicted Microsoft to seperate their browser from windows. The court wrote the verdict that Microsoft ilegally tried to prevent competion . Since Microsoft lost it shouldn't be difficult to file the next suit .

@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social the ultimate jab would be shelling out an ad on Windows so to advertise the adlessness of KDE 😁
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social @NGIZero woah really nice seeing plasma mobile getting so many polishes
