Danke, hatte schon Sorge, mein Blutdruck wäre zu niedrig. Jetzt bin ich direkt wieder auf 180. Und ich hatte noch nicht mal meinen Kaffee!

Thank you, I added it to the resources. Didn't know that one before! That's a very detailed and extensive introduction.

Of course there needs to be a Kurrent community here on Lemmy, although it's still very small currently. The topic is quite niche, but I hope that it may gain some attention through genealogy or maybe findings in the estates of relatives. Or maybe just people interested in calligraphy and handwriting.

However, feel free to spread the word and thanks again for your contribution! It's much appreciated.

Thunder wollte ich mir auch mal anschauen. Mich hat nur erst mal abgehalten, dass ich weder bei Google Play noch F-Droid eine Version fand.

Hm, auf 13 bin ich eigentlich auch. Allerdings hatte ich noch ein Update ausstehend, dass ich jetzt mal installiere. Cache und App-Speicher löschen ist eine gute Idee, das werde ich gleich mal ausprobieren. Aktuell bin ich aus dem Grund auch mit Connect for Lemmy unterwegs. Macht so weit auch einen soliden Eindruck.

Auf Reddit bin ich seit fast zehn Jahren mehr oder weniger aktiv. Lange stiller Mitleser gewesen, aber dann auch mal registriert und beigetragen. Für die Zeit habe ich allerdings verhältnismäßig wenig beigetragen. Wenn, dann war ich eher in den kleineren Subs aktiv. Die großen waren mir dann meist doch zu "laut" und am Ende ist man einfach nur in der anonymen Masse untergegangen – was definitiv auch Vorteile haben kann, aber für den Austausch nicht unbedingt förderlich ist.

Um hier eine unpopuläre Meinung zu vertreten: Reddit habe ich hauptsächlich über die Web-Anwendung oder die offizielle App genutzt, für die API habe ich mich daher eher nicht interessiert. Allerdings bin ich ein Fan des Fediverse und auch seit Jahren bei Mastodon – eben auch aus den oben genannten Gründen.

Ich werde Reddit jetzt nicht unbedingt aus meinem Leben verbannen, der Account darf (im Gegensatz zu Twitter) noch etwas bleiben. Aber Lemmy ist mir dann doch sympathischer.

In diesem Sinne: Auf gute Nachbarschaft.

During the last few days I stumbled accross mulitple links to Lemmy subs or specific threads from other Lemmy instances where I was able to read comments although I wasn't logged in, since I don't have an account there. But when I try to lookup the same subs/instances via our beloved instance Geddit, it says that there are no comments, although I'm able to see the initial posting.

Did anyone here experience something similar?

The first steps are the most difficult ones. As with every writing, you might want to learn the alphabet at first. But even if you know all the letters, you might find it difficult to identify them in a given scripture. Especially with Kurrent it's necessary to practice to read texts to get used to different styles of handwritings and the various peculiarities dependent on the specific writer or the time of writing.

At the beginning it might be difficult to read a text without knowing about its content (or context), but there are lots of resources online. Both already transcribed texts and, nowadays, even interactive exercises.
