Even the democrats and liberals in the south seem to have a strange inability to accept that the civil war was about slavery. They all say it was about taxes and shit.

"Just get a new job" is a completely asinine take. Many many reasons people can't. Someone with a family working full time doesn't have the time or energy to develop the skills for a better job. Someone at fast food in a small town has the choice of other fast food or other retail which all pays the same.
In my wife's case, she cares for a disabled family member. If she didn't do it, nobody would. She has no choice.

Newsom's about face on policies this last year as he ramps up his run for presidency is fucking disgusting. Between him and fetterman we're learning that even 'the good ones' will throw their constituents to the wolves when power and money are involved.
This is all just taking correlation and applying causation. Right next to headlines about doom spending and people not being able to save in the first place. An extra thousand dollars a year won't do anything to really improve anyone's life situation, but it can buy a fun Christmas.
You know what would be a great Christmas? Being able to buy a house. Not having $800 a month in student loan payments. Being able e to do anything to actually advance in life.
But they don't measure anything related to improving quality if life, because they don't want you saving. They want you spending every penny and staying poor.
