Fall of what?

Its always been like that. Civillizations rise and fall all the time throughout history. Its normal.

Why is audio okay, but video is where the line is drawn?

[–] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 1 points 37 minutes ago

Just watching some videos on the tablet during cruise (with headphones plugged in so the Cockpit voice recorder doesn't hear it)

Don't worry about the white stains, its just... coffee creamer... or whatever... 😉

Some people just reach a point in life where their brains are just incapable of learning empathy. I would just cut ties if you can. Lile what happens when they wanna watch fox news and then it doesn't work? They'll just bother you again saying "the computer is broken".

Long story about my family (its gonna bore you to death)My entire family (aside from my brother) is just sitting in the living room warching content spoonfed by WeChat, about China's military strength, something about "using military" to "resolve" the Taiwan issue, and since we are in the United States, there are also some anti-Democrat rhetoric, something like "NYC Dems RUINS city, by inviting DANGEROUS MIGRANTS" (but written in Chinese of course). Oh did I mention my family are immigrants? None of us are born here. My dad and grandmother who lives with us are still a non-citizens. and I heard my dad several times complaining about the "illegals" "taking away resources from society". Blocking WeChat isn't gonna work since the main reason they use their phone is to access WeChat, its not really a phone anymore, its a WeChat Terminal.

I guess the language barrier has a lot to do with this. I mean there are also Taiwanese news, but they instinctively don't trust anything from HK, or Taiwan because they have been programmed to ignore those "evil rebel secessionists" so only what comes from Beijing is considered the truth.

And what's worse, there are some "influencer" bullshit with videos teaching people how to parents. Basically a bunch of filial piety shit and advocacy of corporal punishment if their children "misbehaves", "video games are bad", "work harder", "if you spend you free time to relax enjoy yourself, you're wasting your life", a whole bunch of bullshit, on par with the western Youtube "influencers" acting like some sort of gurus.

Which is probably why I never had much of "happy memories" growing up, life is so fucking miserable because of propaganda and these "influencers". Why the fuck is it still okay to hit your children, wtf society?

I just facepalm and don't even bother, they're too deep into the propaganda machine. All I said to them is: "if y'all don't wanna get deported, y'all better hope Harris wins".

Welp, I guess we're in the dark timeline.

So... Roll the dice. Deportations? Or perhaps cecot? Gitmo? Their small bussiness and all their assets surely are gonna get confiscated ironically by accusations of being "CCP Spies" (they're not spies lol, just idiots that watch too much WeChat, but surely that would be a convienient excuse by the tyrant in chief)

Sometimes all you have to hope is for them to die, so the next generation take the mantle and can fix this.

As for my brother, he's in some conspiracy rabbit hole, instead of the tyoical propaganda, he's inventing wacho theories about the world, so not much better:

TLDR: My whole family is just so fucked up, guess that explains where my anxiety and depression came from, this shit does really run in the family.

Audio is already a thing in most conmercial flights. The pilots unions tried use the same "privacy" concern many decades ago but fortunately/unfortunately (depending on your perspective) they failed.

Now the question that remains is: What about the cameras?

Asking because of Air India 171. Pilots and their unions are objecting to it because of "privacy" reasons. What do you think about it?

No thanks, I prefer to order one "Armed Militia" please 😉

Rather trust the neighbors than some random conservative mostly white dudes that aren't even from the neighborhood.

Ideally it should be the legislature that propose these laws, and the people should vote on it via refereendum (60% supermajority is a good idea to prevent tyranny of the majority).

As for actual enforcement, an attorney of the state ("state" as in polity) would present a list of websites, news articles, video, video games, news channels, etc... to the judge of an independent judiciary, and demonstrare why they qualify as "hate spech" to be taken down, and the judge reviews it and either grants the "takedown warant" or refuses it. Then it can get appealed to higher courts if the losing side disagrees.

I'm not a lawyer, so the specfic wording of the law would need more legalase, but that's the general concept of it.

You should've paid me a $9.99 monthly subscription so you could enjoy the privilage of me keeping your book safe 🤗

A government that's democratically elected by the people should have the ability to restrict hate speech and threats of violence, but there shouldn't be criminal penalties, because then that could get abused. Such laws should require 2/3 supermajority in legislature to pass, (or 60% if its via referrendum).

Example: The government should be able to take down a website saying "[Race] is superior than [Another Race]".

The reason why no criminal penalties is because many countries in the EU are now abusing hate speech laws to jail anti-genocide protests. If something is a good cause, naturally the message will still spread despite censorship. Conversely, white supremacist groups would have a harder time spreading their hatred from their basements if their websites keep getting taken down and they have to go outside to do it. (Yes they could use VPNs, but its harm reduction. Less people will go on those sites, less people radicalized.)

TLDR: Hate speech websites, newpapers, tv channels, should be taken down. But no criminal punishment should be imposed. That's would be my compromise to avoid anti-hate-speech laws from being abused to jail dissent.

I dropped my book and now debt collectors are after me. 0/5 would not recommend.

Yea, I got a Galaxy S24 FE, dev options doesn't show the "allow bootloader to be unlocked" option like I saw in a previous motorola phone.

Its more likely they'll add the movie page but not the creator page. I mean look at some movies or tv shows and find the list of cast, some actor names doesn't have a hyperlink on it.

Kinda getting jealous of people with wikipedia pages. I want my own, but I don't want to be known for something bad (such as mass murderers). What's the easiest method?

I'm about 12,950 Kilometers from my spawn point, according to Google Earth. That place is not "home" since I barely have any memories of it, and left the country during primary school.

I hope that day comes. I'd feel so relived.

How are you supposed to help the victim while simultaneously avoid being falsely accused of being the perpetrator?

I'm talking about those youtube videos.

Feels like lowkey copaganda to me.

Basically a roundabout way of asking: How much do people really care about you?

I know I could vanish for like 48 hours and my parents and older brother probably wouldn't even want to look for me (I'm around 18-25, not a minor so they have no legal responsibilities). Nobody in the world cares about me. I mean they already told me that in my face that if I went missing, they won't care.

Planes were used in the world wars, then we have 9/11. This is the post 9/11 era where air travel sucks so much.

Similarly:

Drones are now being used in the Russo-Ukrainian war. Eventually, there will be a "9/11" with multiple coordinated drone attacks and then the way drones are treated will be forever changed. Civillian ownership of drones will likely be heavily restricted or entirely banned.

History rhymes.

Watched too many sci-fi shows and kinda getting unsettling to think about.

Mine varies from like 4 to -5, with random flucturations into -7 to -8. I'd say it averages out at like -1.
