Thanks for a good read, have been thinking of using wave function collapse instead of perlin for my next project and i think this got me over completely.

Ah, i think there is a miss understanding of their name, it's not open as in open source, it's open as in open research. They publish all their research for others to duplicate. And yes, there is other models out there, but on one as good as GPT4. Unless you have a computer with 640 ram, you can't run it. So yeah, compared to fetching data from a database that could be done on a Raspberry and generating data that requires a monster computer, i understand that they wanna put a price on the API.

Oh god, i didn't know what jailbait was and just tried to look it up on Reddit but couldn't find anything, i thought it was some kind of "bad prank" stuff to bait others into doing illegal stuff..

Most likely written by a computer indexer, but i agree, it's cooler to imagine a employee writing labels all day and finally arrived to this and then just quit their job.

Until someone trains a model (and it will happen) that match or outperform GPT4 and i can run i locally, i will use this to experiment and prototype random stuff that i find interesting ^^

programming.dev is thriving but we are also a niche, lots of good communities for developers.

I just block communities that is to spammy or annoying, the thing with a open source decentralize platform is that you need to drag the sliders yourself to your liking.
