It's too late, Russia has already won the propaganda and disinformation war. The rise of militant far right groups across the democratic world are a direct result of the Russian "firehose of falsehood" that has effectively dismantled the ability of western states to fight dis and misinformation and now we're seeing the results of that decades long campaign start to bear fruit with what's going on in America and we're soon likely to see an increasing number of governments come to power that echo the same model and weaken the democratic institutions across the world and divide formerly close allies.

Our families thing was finding hard rock cafe t shirts from places that very definitely do not have an actual hard rock cafe. I think my dad's "Hard Rock Cafe Bujumbura"(capital city of Burundi) is the winner.

As a former waiter. If its casual dining, you want to foster a friendly atmosphere where you're relaxed and approachable. Obviously if it's a couple or someone on their own I never would but for families or small groups it's a good way to lower that barrier where people think they can't ask for things or make requests.

Still needed people to stack the shelves and clean the floors and drive the lorries to deliver the stock. They just didn't have people working tills.

German shoe maker Adi Dassler who gave his newly developed shoes to Jesse Owens prior to him starting racing at Berlin 1936, knowing he was the best competitor there despite not being Aryan?

The segway guy is actually a pretty sad story. James Haselden was a genuinely good guy, founder of a company making a type of portable and collapsible barrier, originally intended to shore up canals and rivers but ended up solving a variety of problems around the world.

He kept manufacturing local to his childhood home, paying significantly above the average to his staff, created jobs and opportunities for many people in a relatively impoverished community.

Gave many many millions of pounds to charities and good causes.

He bought the segway company, intending on reviving what had become a failing business and died a pretty tragic and stupid death and now all anyone thinks of him is "haha how ironic".

Large grass lawns were a sign of wealth and power for the aristocracy and gentry from the feudal system. When they had large numbers of serfs working their small plots of land and paid a tithe to the landowners it meant that their land could be turned over from agriculture to pleasure.

Growing a big, unproductive, biologically inactive lawn is basically saying "I have so many peasants I don't need to grow vegetables" and then morphed into the quasi status symbol we have today for suburbanites to complain about each other's while the planet dies around them.
