No they do not have to install them by themselves but goverment intelligence agencies or police may use them against journalists.

New to this whole thing myself, but on mobile there is an Icon in the top bar that allows you to switch between different views like local, all and subscribed. Maybe you need to switch the view?

Without defending the reddit admins as they seem to go bonkers atm but I am genuinely interested if there is any possibility to verify for us any claims made?
