I've watched a couple of reviews for this recently because a couple people I know just got it on recent sales. What I've seen is that it really does try to lean into the feeling of UU games... ie it's not just a dungeon crawler, but has a fleshed out story and dynamic interactions.

Looks like the recent price discount just ended with the end of the Steam summer sale... but it also looks like it drops that low fairly frequently. Though it's not like it's super expensive to begin with heh.

IDK how "modern" you're looking... Arx Fatalis was meant to be Ultima Underworld III but couldn't due to the IP being owned by EA. The people at Arkane were in contact with the devs of Ultima Underworld though, as I understand it.

Some do, but because of the prevalence of automatic coffee machines and microwaves there isn't as much of a need outside specialty coffee drinkers.

The argument about speed and convenience doesn't work in the US because of the outlet voltage as well. The 110-120v outlets don't provide the same level of power to kettles so they can't heat up as quickly. If you have a microwave it's just as fast or faster.

You just need to maintain a relationship between Time And Relative Dimension In Space. 🟦

Ah. Good info. ebird to the rescue as usual. :)

I must have missed that the cismontanus also had the signature dark hood when I was looking into it before. I've always known Junco to look like that and when I started trying to identify them I found that most places list "dark eyed junco" as a little gray bird and found out that apparently the one I've known my whole life in the PNW was a specific regionally named variant.

Either way, they're adorable and friendly little guys that hang around all year. :)

They’re pretty chill birds. They will come out to food if you leave it out. They like foraging on the ground naturally so even if it’s just seeds sprinkled out. They’re also known as “winter birds” because they’ll just stay around even in winter. I go out in the snow and sprinkle seeds all over the top of the snow cover and they’ll hop around all over it. :)

Forgot to mention it in my first post because I was stuck geeking about birds haha. Nice pictures. I like the one where it’s facing the camera particularly.

I learned recently that this is a specific variety, the Oregon Junco. So it’s a PNW variety and unique to the region with its signature dark head.

Oh WTF. It’s not like we need stuff like that. I’m sure all these big corporations will look out for us on their own. 🤦

I was looking to add a small walk around camera to my kit. I have an om-d e-m5 ii right now and a few m43 lenses. I've been really happy with that, but I want something a little more slim and with a flip up screen (as opposed to flip out screen). IBIS is a must have for me. Other than that, I've just been looking to not spend a ton.

So in that vein I've been looking at used m43 cameras in the less than $400usd range (preferably less than 200, but I'm considering more to add features). Ones that have gotten my attention have been:

  • lumix gx7
  • lumix gx80/85
  • olympus e-pl6 (and successors)
  • olympus e-p5
  • exciting mystery option (your suggestion goes here)

I'm mostly wondering if people have used these and have any experience or advice on which is best. If there are other things to consider I don't know about that would be helpful.

The lumix gx7 seems like a really solid choice but I've never used a lumix camera before so IDK how they stack up against some of those olympus ones. I'd be buying from mpb, upp, or keh so it had some kind of warranty at least (avoiding ebay et al)... but that does bump the initial price up just a little bit.

Also, my lenses are primarily olympus lenses... which should work but I know sometimes there are quirks with putting them on lumix and vice versa. 🤷

Anyway... if anyone has suggestions or insights it would be much appreciated. 😊

Thanks.
