I don't think the problem is earning a profit, the problem is the need to earn even more profit than last year. Investors aren't content to buy into a company like Reddit just to let it continue in a steady state. They want to double their money in a few years and then cash out. They don't care if they destroy a valuable service that many people enjoy.

I was really liking jerboa, but then i got an update that broke it. If i enter the comment section on a post and then back out, the app completely crashes. I reinstalled through f-droid, but still have the same problem. I even tried clearing app data and cache.
I really like the jerboa interface and plan to continue using it once the problem is fixed, but for now I'm stuck with Connect for lemmy.
Edit: just got an update and it's fixed now.
