Thanks for replying.

What I am looking for is a way to storing my personal files at home. I am not looking for internet connected device that I can access remotely.

It will be mainly used to store my personal photos and videos, and not used to stream movies to a device.

Should be accessible by devices such as android, windows, and iOS.

Hope this helps.

I would like to start and create my first file server at home. I've never done this before and I'm a beginner. I would like to know how to create one, how to maintain it for years to come, and what costs are entailed with a direct or indirect costs. Thanks everyone.

Edit

Added the below for clarity.

You can use obtanium and grab that APK from GitHub.

Easiest way for me to swipe out the side bar. Just swipe from left to right and this has it all.

Google till this day has a lot of their apps display stuff and buttons inconsistently.

I am sure the new UI update will bring those back across different screens.

Let's just say I know someone who went through this.

She was born while her father was old (mid to late 40s). She took care of him well into his 70s.

When he passed away, she was in her 20s, she developed communication skills way beyond anyone I know. She is super kind, knows how to communicate with everyone (young or old), and patience is one of her strong points.

She is absolutely in love with her dad till this day and never thought of the age gap. She has a lot of fond memories of him and how he treated her. Which brings me to the next point.

If you do decide to have that baby, make sure they grow up to be the happiest, and make sure someone is around to take of that child after you just in case. My friends dad passed away without leaving much money, but he left her a number of good people to help her when she is in need.

She got married, left the country she grew up in, and started a new life. Yet, she still travels back to her home country on a yearly basis and visits his grave.

Not to mention the reposts.

The number of old pics and videos that keep reposting is through the roof.

r/AskReddit has dropped in quality. It used to keep me busy and entertained for ages.

The only reason I use Reddit now are for old niche posts that answer specific questions. Other than that, I find my selfing going to lemmy first these days.

Amazing developer.

An hour ago announces he is back, followed by an update in 30 mins.

You can hide it across your account by amending your lemmy account settings.

My parents used to say the next generation of kids will be born with enlarged thumbs (because of all the gaming we did when we were kids).

They still use their phones daily and type heavily 😂

Clap and say bravo at the end of it.

This will send a message.

I am unsure if it's a bug but the list of communities on the sidebar begins all sorted but then the order is mixed at the end.

Is this a bug or am I missing an option somewhere in the app?

After amending the default upvote and Downvote colours, using the compact layout, it looks like there is a bug where the small arrows do not use the new colours. Instead, they use the initial default colours originally set.

I will be adding a comments with screenshots.

Edit: just noticed that an app restart resolved this issue. So it could be a minor bug.

Diggnation and Tekzilla were amazing.

I have tried using summit and noticed that the amount of data the app stores is high.

Currently, the app stores around 1.5 GB of data and cache on the phone.

Comparing to an app like voyager, voyager hardly crosses the 100 MB.

I have two questions:

  1. Is there a reason why summit stores such amount of data and can it be controlled within the app?
  2. Will the data stored by summit keep creeping up or does it reach a certain level and stop from increasing?

Thanks

For a more consistent look, would it be possible to slightly amend the look and feel of the app to make the upvote and downvote arrows also follow the colour of the text?

Does summit have the option of hiding the text shown in the bottom navigation bar?

Noticed this drop and would love to know the reason behind it.

Is there a way in Summit to hide or disable text post thumbnails?

Not sure if it exists or not.

I use the follow system when setting a theme. However, Thunder defaults to gray theme rather than amoled.

Would love to have the option to set a preferred dark theme so that it defaults to the amoled option instead.
