Yeah, I post more. Gotta do my part to make this community alive.

While I am quite worried with the change. Honestly, if there's a will there's a way, especially for a site as big as youtube with a huge target on their back.

People would find a way to get around the whole ad-block thing, especially with 3rd party site scraping client like Newpipe (or its equivalent on pc) or Invidious (sure, they got a bit of dmca going on, but there will probably be another individual willing to retake the mantle similar to revanced when vanced were shut down).

To be fair, for some youtubers, their primary source of incomes are Patreon and In-Video Sponsorships, which can be done on Peertube. After all, we've seen some youtubers, notably The Linux Experiment, use Peertube.

The biggest hurdles here would be user base. It'd be difficult to grow peertube's userbase because most creators there rely on youtube as an income-- unlike reddit or twitter where it's mostly unpaid social media stuff, so most would be scared to move to a new platform as it'd be too detrimental to rebuild their userbase.

That and the instance's funding, which, you know...

Quite a lot, actually:

  1. The rule. As the sidebar states, You must post before you leave. If you visit this sub, you must post. No such rules exist on !random@kbin.social.

  2. This community seems to focus more on memes than random@kbin.social, which is more random in terms of content. Everything that doesn't fit in other kbin.social magazine goes to random, but 196 isn't completely random as you rarely finds discussions such as this post.

  3. The culture. Historically, 196 has heavy ties with transgender subculture since it was still on Reddit, and it still is to this day. This community is hosted on lemmy.blahaj.zone which is primarily centered around gender diverse and other LGBTQ folk. Random@kbin.social is hosted on a more general instance. There's a lot of memes here which trans people could relate, and many-- if not most-- people here are transgender.

Why do we even need to find the full digits of pi? Wouldn't it be simpler if we keep it short? I'm going to get mad at mathematicians for making pi more complex instead of accepting that maybe pi is indeed more complex than 3.14! /s

Pretty much every instance have defederated from at least one other instance, especially towards instances that hosts illegal images, ones with lackluster moderations, instances that support views they consider dangerous, ones filled with spam bots, and yes, sometimes out of drama or politics.

It's more of a question of which instances they defederated from and why.

Yeah, it's quite bad. Honestly, that's something I knew when I made this joke. I thought it'd be funny if the industry collapse, especially from something like this challenge...

But, I've also heard attempts at making alternatives that is more ethical and doesn't involve civets, so I do hope those could catch on...

When you're a swashbuckling pirates in the lawless seven seas, you gotta come up with clever ways to enforce your ship's code of conduct.

I assume we're talking about spam bots, not bots whose entire purpose is to reupload content from elsewhere into here (i.e. reddit reposter bot).

Most likely, spam. Spam and scam has been quite a problem on Mastodon, so I wouldn't be surprised if bad actors want to bring them here.

With the vast majority of Lemmy users being refuges from Reddit, it's easy to see why "Reddit ded" circlejerk is strong. It's the most relatable thing to everyone here, as nearly everyone here can relate. Not to mention it's the only thing that unites us as it is the only thing we have in common, regardless of which community you used to belong to on Reddit.

But, I do see those posts less and less. As time went by, I'm sure people will move on from the circlejerk (probably to another circlejerk, but at least they do move on).

When it comes to the lack of content, that's due to the lower number of users. It's hard to say if whether it'll get better as it depends on which kinds of content you are looking for.

But if you want more content, try sorting by new. Reddit death content will usually get more upvotes as it relates to more people than any other content, but the "new" sorting should eliminate this bias.

This appears to be a duckduckgo bug. Peertube shows up in ddg for me, but I've had a few simple searches that randomly gives no results in ddg. I usually switch to ecosia when ddg gives no results.

I don't know if this post will get any traction from other otherkins/therians, but...

I know this question is cliché, but could I be an otherkin?

Sometimes, I can feel a sort of phantom tail and fur on my body like right now. And sometimes, I am disappointed that I'm not really an anthro raccoon, that I don't have the same ability as them and me doing anything raccoon-like would be seen as weird. And sometimes, I feel weirdly excited at the idea of me being an anthro raccoon.

The thing is, all of that only happen sometimes. Not being an anthro raccoon doesn't make me miserable, definitely not as much as my gender (I'm transgender). I can live as humans. While there is some weird energy sometimes, most of the time, I'm not interested with the idea of me becoming an anthro racc. But I wouldn't mind becoming an anthro raccoon...

At the time I had no money. I've made it a bucket list to see if I can afford them one day, if that's the only gender thing I'll do in real life.

You're all valid, no matter what your sexuality or gender identity. I wish you all a nice day.

Sorry if I'm off topic. I've read the code of conduct, and it says something about content warning policy. I know how content warning works on Mastodon, but how do you enable content warning on Lemmy?

Did the furry fandom helps you discover your gender? Did it help you feel more welcome?

For me personally, being a furry helps me to cope with dysphoria for years before my egg cracked. I used to imagine that I'm an anthro animal all the time to cope with dysphoria before I even knew what dysphoria was.

And aside from a few trans communities (like r/egg_irl), the furry fandom also exposes myself to queer people and queer media in general, which in retrospect might help me sympathize with them more instead of hating it like what most people do.

I'm so glad that this community is very accepting towards people of all sexualities and gender. Being trans in this fandom generally feels pretty safe, at least safer than most other fandoms. Thank you so much.

Preferably one that's popular enough to have more content than a cobweb

This is a place for transgender furries to come together and... interact... I guess

Given the huge number of trans furries, I thought it might be a good idea if we have a community dedicated to us. It would be nice to discuss the intersectionality between our furry and trans experiences.

Of course, other queer furries and allies are welcome too!
