A disgusting behavior that I've seen in Spain is for websites to direct you to their subscription page if you say you don't want to be tracked, either you pay for the content or you don't get any content. Apparently the Spanish courts have deemed this legal.

And what do you think that is? So far I blame algorithmic/targeted social media that leads to echo chambers and lowering living standards because of rising cost of living and prices without salaries keeping up.

But I'm also getting the impression that no one that can actually do anything about it is aware or cares enough to act so we are fucked either way.

There was a long time of that happening and everyone being blisfully unaware. That's the period that feels like the golden age to me because we were getting all these new cool and free services not fully realizing what we are paying.

Tried this recently and I hate it. It makes a racket and no matter how careful you are with it it stinks. Plus the constant extra work of filling it up. I'm selling it off and getting a heat pump. Should have done that from the start tbh.

Question still remains, how do 4 different countries lose power at once. Sounds like an insane fuck-up.

Same man, it's been a dream since installing this.

I'd say Sarah doesn't know much about cats or is just lazy.

Cats love toys, but it needs to be engaging. They love their pray to feel alive, to move, to hide. A crumpled up piece of paper on a string tied to a stick works wonders. That means the owner needs to participate, but most don't. Also cats are crepuscular so for maximum success keep play limited the evening or morning. You might be surprised how much of a hunter your cat actually is.

This being unsustainable has been a discussion point for years at this point and yet they keep on fighting while it feels like western society is slowly collapsing.

I think calling it fear mongering against EVs is right in the sense that it's not exclusive to EVs. All cars have cameras, microphones and sensors these days and are connected, so legislation should deal with that properly.

I don't understand the downvotes you got. The same people will complain when a profit driven reddit alternative springs up to take the mainstream while Lemmy remains niche because they wanted a kind of exclusive club. Being unfriendly to the user is a recipe for failure.

On the flip side, the biggest forum on the internet being shared, distributed and owned by its' users would be an incredible win.

Even the integrated windows Notepad does this now.

Like for many other people, Valve single player experiences were one of my favorite of all time growing up. I considered both Half-Life and Portal to be masterpieces. It's true they've always been distracted with multiplayer games as well, things like Counter-Strike or Team Fortress and I did play them for sure, because I was a kid and I had all the time in the world.

These days I'm not a kid anymore and so when I game I tend to look more for memorable experiences instead of mindless grinding. Obviously I remember Valve as the experts in creating memorable experiences and I would like them to keep fully exploring those talents. They don't have that many employees, but they do have all the money in the world, no external pressure, no publisher to shit on them, it's just their developers and artists and a vision. But then they use all that and create this. An Overwatch looking moba shooter, really? I'm sure people will like and play it, but is this the results of the vision and ambition of a company like Valve?

It doesn't have to be Half-Life. I remember them saying that they dont want to do another one in the series because they are looking to innovate and make something truly original. My body is ready, give me anything. I can't imagine a moba shooter really fits with this description. I'm wondering how such a low hanging concept even becomes a real product at a company as ambitious as Valve.

I hear people are having fun with the new game and I'm happy for them. I am no longer the target audience and I wish them good luck with it. In the mean time let me hear your thoughts on it. Would you like to see another single player experience from Valve?

No worry about quality when you only get one topic to enjoy for the day.

I've been using sync for a while and occasionally I go looking in the settings for the feature to hide read posts automatically, instead of having to do it manually. Other Lemmy clients have this so I was convinced sync should probably have it as well, I just can't find it. Does this exist? If not, is it something that could be added? Thanks!
