Lemme tell the millions of children that have gone through the migrant camps, separated from their family, some of whom have disappeared, that their jailors aren't fascists. Let me tell the latino women who have been forcibly neutered without their knowledge or consent that they're trivializing fascism. Let's go to those who were detained in Abu Ghraib, if any of them are still alive, that their abduction, rape, and torture by laughing US soldiers doesn't count, it's what happens to americans that's worrying.

Honestly, this is the fucking smugness of somebody who knows they're safe as long as they mask, because they've been safe as fascists have massively incarcerated and enslaved black people, as they've made ghettos of bipoc neighborhoods, as far right terrorists have shot up black churches and gay bars and lynchings are back on the up and up. Because that was trivial, what's not trivial is if it can happen to them. Fuck dems fr.

I thought it was perfection, and not about lesser evil? You dems are like that fucking patrick with the wallet meme

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago)

That'd require dems getting off their armchair. We're gonna see people who voted third party protesting, striking, organizing and engaging in mutual aid, while dems wait for the next time the corporations say it's time to choose between the good cop and the bad cop.

They're going "enjoy fascism you idiots!" because they know they ain't gonna do shit, and they never planned to do shit. Their complacency and tolerance of fascists (as long as they're the stick to their carrot) is the reason the US is in this fucking mess to begin with.

Democrats are alright with failure, they're gonna make serious bank anyway. Their voters, though? Idk why they act like they are part of this campaign, when they might as well have been cardboard cutouts as far as the DNC is concerned. They're the worst kind of politicucked.

"The democrats and republicans have made sure you can't elect anybody else, the solution is to vote for them to change it!"

Americans are so fucking cooked lmao

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 months ago

I know american adults have the reading comprehension of other countries' 8 year olds but I guess the democrat playbook of performative martyrdom when presented with criticism is easier than introspection.

While I think this is a good level headed take, you're seriously underestimating how comfortable with fascism the average american voter truly is. If they readily accept "immigrants and queers did it" as an answer to their admittedly worsening living standards, when corporations are no longer even hiding their plunder, they were looking for a reason to turn on them anyway.

This is by design, and the democrats are just as much at fault. The US flag has been synonymous with torture, genocide, death squads, weaponized rape whether a Democrat or a Republican is at the helm, and it's only been the so-called hard leftist minority struggling for change within the US. As long as they reaped a tiny sliver of benefit from global imperialism, they were happy to shut up and tug for a bigger slice of the pie.

Now that they hardly even get the crumbs, parts of the electorate want to continue as usual, another part wants to get the whole world again so the crumbs alone can fill them up. But the US, from the ground up, has been designed so that you can only get a progressive in power by accident. If a fascist can get elected and immediately start wielding near-absolute power, you were always a corporatocracy with a fascist contingency plan.

People who think the trolley problem has a clear cut solution that we have to "get" are on the starting edge of the Dunning-Kruger curve.

It is exactly like this except the guy who walks you extorts protection money from you and then you learn they're helping another guy kidnap so you don't want to walk with them. And then when the bully shows up the other guy just watches, and when you agree to walk with that guy he beats you too, now, but says the bully would beat you like, way worse now.

Bur apart from all that, yeah, same.

It doesn't matter where in Latin America I'm from because all of it has been various levels of fucked by the US in the same way the corporatocracy started to fuck most of y'all since the last depression. My grandpa wasn't even born when the US was already stealing our shit at gunpoint. Malcolm X was already saying in the 60s that all the horrors unleashed by the US would in time be unleashed within it, and here we are. Good for you for campaigning for prop 6, doesn't make your reasoning for why it failed any less fascist.

Trump supporters voted for him because they think migrants poison the blood of the country. Citing made up Nazi shit doesn't mean everyone else has to address it like it's true, jfc.

How dare you not get wholly genocided in time for the election

And those whose brand would be hurt by endorsing her, shut up about her worst qualities (looking at you, John Oliver, you liberal dipshit) instead of highlighting third parties because, of course, the moguls would like very much to keep this managed democracy rather than risk an actual democracy, which can get rather messy to undermine.
