I’m not a conservative and I agree with you.

How old is your son?

Does this mean I can finally get a prehensile tail!

How many of those 200 applications did you deliberately install? That seems excessive even for all of those use cases.

And can you elaborate on these use cases, like I’m not sure why you would want a specific VM for bash scripting.

I’m suggesting moving the border due north along the Detroit river. This would result in over 9000 square kilometres of land being ceded to Canada (including most of Detroit and many of the automotive factories). The beauty of this proposal is that it would have support from loads of MAGA folks because they’re likely geographically illiterate.

Edit: to be crystal clear, I’m not suggesting ceding any Canadian territory.

Facebook (Meta) owns WhatsApp. I don’t use WhatsApp and it’s a hassle because it’s popular here so having the ability to send messages to WhatsApp without having a WhatsApp account or app would be useful.

The same could be said for sending emails to a Gmail account. You won’t be forced to send messages to WhatsApp but you’d have the option. WhatsApp is popular where I live so having the ability to send messages to a WhatsApp account would be useful for me as I refuse to install or use any facebook apps.

I hear you on the sensitivity of border discussions, but think of Charlie Chaplin’s "The Great Dictator"—a film that used humour and satire to expose the absurdity of dictators. Its impact was significant, as it helped shift public opinion away from totalitarian ideals during a critical time. Let's keep making fun of the clown king and his henchmen.

We're visiting Norway at the moment, it's a beautiful country. We're obviously here in the high season with lots of employment. What do tourist workers do in the winter when there is much less work?

I'm struggling to disconnect from work. I've been working on an interesting problem for the last couple of weeks (compacting change data capture events from sharded MySQL servers into BigQuery). It's an interesting technical problem. There are lots of optimization opportunities and novel patterns I can introduce.

I'm on vacation for the next two weeks but since starting my trip my mind keeps returning to the problem. I've even solved a few issues and come up with new patterns to try while daydreaming as we travel. Obviously I haven't implemented any changes, I deliberately didn't bring my work laptop with me. I emailed those solutions to my work email address so they get out of my head but that hasn't helped. I just visualized more optimizations while hiking today.

There is no expectations from my leadership to work while on vacation.

How do others disconnect from work when I enjoy the problem solving aspects of my work?

I'm disappointed in myself
