They were arrested in El Salvador, likely the charge is "Fuck that person in particular". El Salvador has long since left any semblance of law and order, that's why Trump has become so cozy with them.

I will be absolutely shocked if the person is still alive a year from now. And this also highlights why everyone knew that trying to mount legal defense from El Salvadorian jurisdiction was never going to happen. The country has demonstrated zero compunction with incarcerating people the government doesn't like and indicating that legal rationale isn't needed to justify their actions.

Roughly 2.9 million people who have student loans are age 62 or older. I'm very curious as to how many in that demographic are within this defaulted status. Mostly because any change in social security benefits for a retiree is life altering and if any significant portion of that group that's defaulted is also this 62 or older group, the changes this will have a massive impact on the population. Retirees that get caught into money troubles not only brings them down, but usually the family that ultimately has to catch them from completely falling through the cracks.

So completely unqualified people, gotcha.

Well the bars kind of need to have a particular bit of strength to prevent prisoners from taking over the place.

The prison camp isn't where they want to hold them. It's the Guantanamo Bay's Migrant Operations Center where they want to hold them. It suffers the same issues at Alcatraz, so either way they want to slice the bread here, they have to go through a set of hoops to get it to any kind of position to hold long term prisoners.

Things that won't happen.

The salt from the ocean has corroded the bars, a good kick likely would open the windows. To secure the place would take years of rework or just outright tear down and rebuild.

The place hasn't had proper upkeep since the late 1960s and honestly very likely before then too. It wouldn't serve to secure anyone that various places out in the Midwestern desert regions wouldn't do multiple times better.

Wants to stop mRNA. Which interestingly is being tested to cure AIDS, types of cancers, and other diseases.

All those wacks who thought that big pharma didn't want to develop cures for these diseases, and the reality is it's one of the wacks that didn't want these cures.

How ironic.

Trump hates transparency. Hey Jeffrey, how's that's "donation" working for you?

[–] IHeartBadCode@fedia.io 7 points 4 weeks ago

Right? The group he's threatening is likely to have plenty who can pass with flying colors.

there could be almost 10 million borrowers in default in a few months

That's not a small amount. That's fucking with economic outlook levels.

As for their program to "guide" folks to repayment, I mean you might as well tell them that they're indentured servants at this point. Bully tactics are not going to work in an economy where it does not matter how much or little credit you have.

And I highly doubt this administration has any kinds of plans to gentle get folks back to repayment. I fully expect, "pay your loans or we will make you a slave for the rest of your life" to be their go to solution.

There's a correct manner to handle this, I expect Trump's administration to fuck it up every step of the way.
