If the dem machine was smart - they would have been kissing her ass and maintaining a subtle relationship with her even before the election in 2020. If your candidate is a super-old, angry, stubborn person - planning ahead about how to change the situation is wise. If you plan ahead - sucking up can pay dividends. This is not complicated at all.

But I assume the machine is filled with abject morons so they didn't do that. If I'm right - they have no cards to play other than begging and pleading which nearly always tends to be a big loser. Another "bad day" and Jill and her hubby might start to worry about his all important legacy. And the dem machine can play on that.

If the number of people in DC and boldface name dems start asking him to drop out gets to be too big and/or the number grows too fast - that's entwined with legacy too and is a another pressure to drop out. I have no idea what "too big" or "too fast" is. Newsom and Whitmer are local party soldiers focused on 2028.

They won't ask him to drop out unless they know for certain he's already a dead man walking. If the say they have "losing confidence" in him that's surely a sign Biden is toast and he can't remain the nominee.

Whatever happens - this month and next month will be fascinating.

For me the worst thing is the GOP SCOTUS justices. The justices are toxic and their power must be curbed and that pro-Trump immunity thing overturn. Plus - the only way to restore reproductive rights is radical action on the court - packing it or whatever. Of course - if Biden somehow manages to get a second term and by some miracle stays in office the whole time - there's a zero percent chance he'll do anything at all.

As others have said in this thread the worship of American civic religion and voting means libs will keep lecturing the public to vote and keep ignoring the fact that the only way the GOP justices can be stopped is by DC dems doing something. If Biden gets a second term and he is forced to give the presidency to Kamala (or he dies and she gets it anyway) - I guess there's a tiny percent chance she might do something.

In fact - weird as it is - if Biden has one or two "bad days" like at the debate - libs might actually argue that voting for Biden is also voting for Kamala just in case, erm, Biden can't finish his term. And, look, maybe she'll do something about the court.

She won't and they know it but they'll lie to the public and perhaps even themselves too. Worship of American civic religion and voting is a hell of drug.

At least we can all draw pleasure from the hilariously impossible situation they very predictably put themselves in.

I'm scrolling through Bluesky in constant amusement. The libs are screaming that the media (in particular the NYT) is unfair to Biden and they're worried about a Trump victory and Project 2025. I think to myself... Careful for what you wish for - you wanted that old fucker - remember? Biden is becoming unelectable and you're whining about it? You're sowing and now you're reaping. Cry me a fucking river. And life isn't fair. And politics ain't beanbag. And...

And Biden is an angry old man. He'll stay in the race just out of spite. I guess the only thing that could get him to drop out is Jill. And god only knows what her POV is or will be.

Ninja edit. Haha. I knew I was mad about Parkinsonsgate. But I didn't know I was mad-mad. This is a rant.

---

I first voted in the 1980s. I've been around a while but I've only been a political junkie the last 10-15 years. Still I've never seen or even heard of anything like this before for a national politician. This is a nightmare and a five-alarm fire. It's extraordinary. It's like something out of a movie. Americans can be really fucking dumb but Biden has an undeniable loser stank about him. Also - the public knows that insiders know far more than we do. Insiders always do. You don't have to be genius to figure that out.

What facts or rumors or gossip do DC insiders know that the public doesn't? My first wild guess - and it's only that - is that Biden has some kind of serious neurological disease. Maybe it's Parkinson's or maybe something else - but if I'm right - he's been diagnosed with it which means there's a prolonged White House cover-up that's still in progress. My second wild guess is that there there's DC gossip about this and dem pols are trying to navigate their own political futures. If I'm right about this too - more and more of them will go into panic mode and fleeing the sinking ship the SS Biden. And it means they don't trust the White House or Biden.

Bluesky is a trip. The libs there have made tons of popular posts that the NYT (etc) are "pushing right-wing talking points" about Parkinson's and Biden. They are posting about it like crazy. The problem is that there's something fucky about Biden and the White House keeps saying there's no fire even though there's billowing smoke. And lib copium is a disgusting use of ableism as a shield. They say stuff like "having Parkinson's is not disqualifying" which is true but highly deceptive. They make it seem that if Biden has been lying about his health it's been for the public weal which is utter nonsense. If he's been lying - it's so he can get reelected and the cover-up sure as fuck is disqualifying.

"Hey! What happened to the lights! I'm watching HBO here, jack. Hey! I'm the president of the... of the... of..." He's so sleepy-sleepy! It's hard to keep his eyes open! Then the president yawns. Jill says "night lights" and low-level lights go on so she can guide him to their room 'cause it's nighty-night. Jill tells he's going to have wonderful dreams. The president says - "About ice cream?" And Jill says "Yes! If you want, honey."

Previously he had demanded he go to nighty-night himself but everybody was afraid he'd fall and break his hip. If the president is traveling and Jill isn't there - she's replaced by Jill 2.0. She's a young aide with a similar build and voice who wears copies of Jill's clothes and a Jill mask. If the president says "Why do you look different?" She just says "You're already dreaming,' and the president gets distracted and forgets his question.

Biden's brains could literally start leaking out his ears and then Bernie wouldn't even say "no comment". He'd simply always run away quickly from reporters as if dinner was ending soon and the Senate bean soup was on sale in the Senate dining room.

This is fine....

I found one post in r/politics when I set the search time to one month.

So it's not an official act.

Trump as president could make a citizen stateless and/or imprison them and/or torture them and/or murder them. If you don't believe that or are unwilling to accept it - google it. I'll wait. There's no hurry here.

An "official act" is whatever the president says it is if the court agrees. To stop the 6-3 GOP SCOTUS veto Biden can restructure the court now so whatever he does is an official act. Don't try to convince me a future Trump can strip citizenship, jail, torture, and murder a huge number of people no problem but smol bean President Biden is powerless right now to deal with a minor bullshit procedural problem.

I just did a search for Parkinson's at Bluesky. There are extra-large serves of hedging and copium.

EVEN if this diagnosis is correct, which is a huge IF, the ableism shows in the pants-wetting tone. Anyone who has seen a friend or family member with Parkinson's knows that cognitive decline almost never presents for decades, well after the physical symptoms leave the patient almost incapable.

---

Well at least Parkinson's can be treated, unlike fronto-temporal dementia which is the standard armchair diagnosis for TFG.

---

i think it’s highly unlikely Biden has Parkinson’s but if he did, it would be disgusting to refuse to vote for him on that basis

---

If you have actual evidence that Biden has Parkinson's like e.g., lab results, put up, if you only have speculation however degreed, shut up. This is actually really easy.

They blocked the person so the original post can't be seen.

---

This is because he just signed a Parkinson's bill isn't it.

---

FFS even if he DOES have Parkinson’s that doesn’t in and of itself make him unfit for office.

---

Kremlimology about whether the President secretly has Parkinson's. Why don't you fucks just watch the West Wing and leave the politics to the grown ups?

I see Biden is again following the science. The political science of the old fucker really wanting a second term and damn the torpedoes, jack.
