I can understand logistical difficulties and delays, but if you give people a day and hours to vote you absolutely have to give your best to meet those hours. Fly people out to the area and stay until the job is done. Leaving early as mentioned here is shameful:

When word spread that the voting station was closing at 2.30 p.m., she and others rushed to the polling booth, but she was too late.

"I could hear their airplane starting in the background," she said. "Today, I lost my legal right to vote.

And I don't even know what to say about not setting up at all, if true:

In Ivujivik, Mayor Adamie Kalingo said Elections Canada staff didn't even set up a station in his community before they left.

They eventually did around midday, but after a toilet stop, they took off again.

Having advanced days and mail-in voting is all well and good, but you can't tell people that X day is election day and then have no method for them to vote.

Depends on the launcher.

6 replies and 3 reactions is "bombarded"?

Apart from the key bind loss, which would be asinine to remove permanently, this looks like a straight upgrade. Better readability and more in line with the rest of the UI design.

I use Bitwarden (as far as I know these are basically the same) and have had issues with the app too, from long delays before it autofills, to the popup jumping around the screen or vanishing after 1ms, to just never showing up on some screens. I would recommend trying some of the other autofill options they provide in settings to see if they work better for you. I have had much more luck with "inline autofill" than the accessibility-based autofill, but currently keep them all enabled and the experience is much smoother than it was a year ago.

We lean on ChatGPT to rewrite blog posts and celebrate Copilot for “boosting productivity,” but AI art still raises eyebrows.

"We" is doing some heavy lifting in this sentence.

I really hope that's what this is doing, but honestly I can't tell at this point. Some people are so disconnected from reality they either don't see this news, don't care, or maybe even like it. I have a coworker that called Trump's clown parade of a government "strong" and just yesterday commented on the voter turnout that "I guess people are really fed up with the liberals".

If you're on Lemmy, I would wager you're not part of the "regular users" that were referred to.

If I were to guess, I'd say they may get a discount but Lenovo could be reducing their margin to incentivize people away from Windows so they can stop paying out Windows licenses in the future.

It isn't even a decade old... anyway, it got market share for a reason. It was immediately a big step up from other free offerings in ease of use, UI, and eventually in features too.

Best response here, as this actually paints a picture of what people are doing all day and why they may be doing it.

What field?? Like what are you supposed to be doing instead of watching videos for 7 hours. It's crazy to me that so much time can be wasted without a manager realising or caring...

This question's on my mind because my coworker today mentioned they would vote for Trump if they could (mind you this is 2023, in Canada). I don't generally have the talking points or the desire to fight about it, so I just deflected the conversation. But I often wish I was more strong-willed and could try to figure out why someone believes what they do and, if it's invalid, then convince them otherwise.

Thus, I'm curious what you all would say or what you've done in the past!

According to the uploader:

Byron, Georgia — On Friday July 15, 2022 Byron Police officers were given a look out on a SUV driving reckless on GA Hwy 42 coming into town. The caller said the vehicle was driving into the other lane almost hitting oncoming traffic. When the vehicle got to the intersection of Hwy 42 and Hwy 49 witnesses blocked the vehicle in. Byron Police officers arrived on scene and attempts were made to talk to the driver and she was uncooperative and would not talk to officers or respond to commands. Officers placed Stop Sticks under her tires to deflate the tires if she drove off. After several minutes the driver backed into a car stopped behind her and then pulled forward hitting a Byron Police officer and a Byron Police car.

The driver then backed up again and pulled forward hitting two witnesses and another Byron Police car and drove going north on Hwy 49 with one flat tire from the Stop Sticks. Officers attempted to block the car and she backed into a third Byron Police Car then drove forward hitting a Byron Police car for the second time causing serious damage to the car. The suspect continued on Hwy 49 for a short distance where Byron Officers were able to block her in and take her into custody. The driver was identified as 24-year-old Sierra Hibbert of Warner Robins, GA. She also had a small child with her that was not hurt in the incident. No officers or citizens were injured seriously in the incident. The Peach County Sheriffs assisted during the incident and is handling the investigation and criminal charges against Hibbert.

I have wanted to go on a road trip for a while, just driving off to nearby towns in my hatchback and exploring. I'd start small, like a day or three. The main thing holding me back is uncertainty of what to bring and how to do it, amongst other issues. I think I can figure out the food and sleep, but I was wondering:

  • Where to access showers?
  • Where to refill water?
  • Is it worth bringing a tent (could I set it up outside of a campsite)?
  • Where can I park when I need to sleep (that I won't get in trouble for)?
  • Am I missing anything else?

Was hoping some of you might have advice. I don't have a whole lot of good people to go to about this IRL.

Edit: Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to respond!

If you don't want to see car chase videos or cop videos, let me know in the comments. Or downvote. Whichever way so that I know whether people want to see this.
