kg is indeed mass and mass is a measurement for the matter an object contains. It's a definite amount for any given object. SI unit is kilogram or kg

Weight is a measurement of gravitational forces on mass. Weight is relative to location due to changing gravitational forces (expressed as acceleration or distance (m) divided by time (s) squared). SI unit is kg•m/s^2 or mass times acceleration (which is the units used to express gravity or g).

So every time we waddle our large bodies onto a scale it's figuring out a number which (should be anyway) your body's mass times Earth's gravitational force 9.81m/s^2 and expressing it in kg because we are silly creatures.

Silly but also practical and/or self-absorbed. So much so that we made 1g = 9.81m/s^2 conveniently our home world's gravitational force! So since weight is relative, and depends on a definite value of mass (m) times the variable value of gravity (g) you can kinda sorta just eliminate g when considering weights compared on earth taken at the same location. Since g = 1 you get weight= mass • g or weight = mass • 1g or weight=mass(times Earth's g...but no one says that part. It's assumed). So on earth, at the same location, two objects with the same mass also weigh the same absolute number of units, but the units are technically different, just never or rarely expressed differently. We just assume for the sake of simplicity (but also confusion!) being on earth that mass=weight.

Why did I type this? I don't know! I hate myself probably. And if anyone comes in quoting equations and saying mass varies depending on certain conditions, I promise I'll start crying.

You know someone's mind is gone when the mainstream western media even has to heavily backtrack and drop a narrative but people online keep parroting it forever. If there was any actual hard evidence of serious, ongoing mistreatment much less genocide of anyone in China and the US could prove it literally CNN, MSNBC, and Fox would be running pictures of Xi with Holocaust victims in the background 24/7. They ran with a story based on a few accounts which turned out to be... dubious... did a couple follows up that amounted to "what is genocide, anyway?" And we haven't heard shit since. Again, this is in China. Do not doubt for half a fucking second that the CIA, DoD, and every private organization isn't foaming with erect cocks at the idea of proving wrongdoing there. The fact that it was apparently dropped by all mainstream media either says they're in collusion with the US state dept/media (which would require some sort of Illuminati level conspiracy thinking) or... the initial reports were largely discredited as overblown and exaggerated. But it doesn't matter because once you scream GENOCIDE you can publish 1000 retractions and still get your comment posted everyday, living in pure ignorance.

There's also a bunch of other additional multipliers of suspicious and/or ironic shit: whenever you read Uyghurs in China just replace it with black people in the US. I know liberals like to yell about "whataboutism" to distract from the fact that a country that arbitrarily imprisons and legally murders black people daily, still, in 2023 is criticizing any other country for accusations of, essentially, modern day slavery. A lot of it boils down to people getting arrested or forcefully detained and then forced to work... kinda like the US does to its prison population. Remember when California sent in prisoner-firefighters? "Hey want 30 days off your life sentence? Go fly in this helicopter over a wildfire and toss water on it! Good luck, buddy!" Maybe you can spend your outrage energy where you can make a difference... if you're in the US anyway.

The US has lied about every single one of its "enemies" except, pretty much, the axis in WWII. Well, they did lie for the Nazi and imperial Japanese but it was more of a helpful lie... a lie of omission because those right wingers benefited the US post-war against the new frenemy the USSR.

From the legacy of the DPRK(North Korea), the Chinese civil war, the Russian revolution, Cuba, Vietnam, Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, Egypt... literally the list includes basically the entire world minus the "western" ones. They've just been lying and lying and lying so why the fuuuuuuck would you or anyone believe US state dept now? Did they suddenly renounce their warhawk rhetoric of even just a couple presidents ago that led to two illegal invasions of countries the US supported right wing terrorists in and then later used as an excuse for war? Did they imprison a bunch of warmongering "journalists" and basically the entire Clinton/Bush cabinets? No? So they haven't changed. And they shouldn't be trusted. This shit is all Saddam and aluminum tubes and yellow cake all over again. As someone who was an older teen at the time, I find it hard to believe anyone is falling for the same exact bullshit again but turned on China this time. I've come to accept that my countrymen are mostly morons and racists all too happy to jump on the hate train at the first suggestion that it's ok to do openly. I'm sure all these Americans that wanted to "glass" Iraq and Afghanistan only 15-20 years ago absolutely totally give a single shit about Muslim populations in China. Please just fuck off with this bullshit. It's tired and boring.

Not reading that (assuming) Nazi dogshit.

Let me guess: Workers have no moral right to strike because they see "stealing" value and specifically surplus value aka profits from their magnanimous capital-owning bosses?

Pathetic argument to justify exploitation and (actual) theft. Sad. Baby brained.

Well since she's judging others I can't help but notice she looks like a failed 1980s rock band member. Not like the ones who had crazy lives doing an unimaginable amount of drugs and indulging in all the sin their souls can handle. No she just looks like a boring ex-drummer who kept the haircut and joined some weird vaguely religious cult.

I know the simplest answer is obviously they want to claim he's fine so that he can point to it and have a reason to never step down from power, however...

Shit like this I kind of just see as a giant stick to whack people over the head with. Part of sort an ongoing psyop, for lack of better word, to reinforce the idea of your powerlessness and imaginary feeling of everything.

I'd also lump the murder... I mean suicide of Epstein in this category. Shit that everyone can see/did see plain as fucking day and then the news media all jumps in lock step to repeat a narrative over and over and over again "no, he killed himself. No he killed himself. Him being murdered is a right wing conspiracy! Do you love Putin?"

And don't even speak about the Bush family, most specifically George H W and his INSANE life of MULTIPLE TOTAL COINCIDENCES.

And I know I went from mundane "who cares" with McConnell (he's ultimately a figurehead. The man matters little. Although, you know... I probably can't freely type what should happen to that turtle) to one of the premier conspiracies in US history, but I think that's actually the point. Everything from McConnell's very clearly having some sort of stroke or seizure or whatever all the way up to the schma-ssination of the schm-esident is lied about or at least very heavily redacted and specific details withheld and order of events changed in provable or at least "requires further reading" type ways.

A disembodied voice in the back of your mind: "Nothing is real, everything is real. Believe us while we lie to your face."

It's all some trance-like shit to make the absorption, or rather repelling, of horrific news easier to pass along. Everything becomes debatable, even things you can see in recording. I mean, truly, how can you demand more of your government/media when you see a man's eyes goes blank, basically flies fucking walking across them, in a recorded video TWICE and you're told both times "nope. You're wrong. He's fine. Stfu, move along." You can't even force them to admit clear shit like that and you expect to change policy?

"It's easier to lean back into the stupor and forget you ever thought anything could change. Focus on your little garden. Maybe chat with a buddy."

Never for a second give a thought to the universe of shit they lied about and hide in little vaults and piles of harddrives which officially "don't exist."

"Even if you got access, would you believe it?"

Either that, or, I dunno. Maybe he was just dehydrated.

"Pay no more attention over here."

I don't even see how I was being rude. It's more of a joke or whatever you might call it to say "someone's questions and/or actions are so out of line that I believe a bot is posting."

Maybe it's not a good joke, or funny or whatever, which is fine, but I don't agree with the assertion that I was being overly rude. I think he's just irritated someone came in and listed a bunch of pretty much irrefutable shit and destroyed his little attempt to change the conversation.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

If you type like a bot, I'm gonna call you a bot. I outlined my reasoning which was "your question had absolutely nothing to do with the OP's meme."

I apologize when I'm wrong, so I won't be apologizing here.

I don't know what the removed portion says, whether that's on my end censoring or just rules around here, but feel free to DM me what was after "were a" and before the comma. I'm curious what I was being.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 15 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (6 children)

This is me acknowledging upfront that I'm typing back to some sort of chatgpt-like AI bot. Aintnoway this is a person. I'm drawing this conclusion based off the complete fucking irrelevancy of this question in the context of the OP meme.

Here's a spicy meatball for you: America is basically always the fucking "bad guy" historically, minus literally two times both of which it took waaaaaaayyyy too long to finally intervene. 100 years in the case of the union army finally ending chattel slavery in the US and years + a provoking attack in the case of fighting world-wide fascism. Every other war or military action the US has done, broadly without exception, has been evil shit, bad, solely for the interests of US capital (first) and/or allied nations such as the UK, France, etc. and their capital and imperial interests.

So, the obvious question then is: who the fuck does the US think it is to be the great arbiter of truth?

The country that bombed an entire northern half of a nation so heavily that no buildings existed basically? And for what? Wanting a democracy more aligned with the USSR and/or China? (DPRK or North Korea if this isn't obvious).

Or the country that dropped two unnecessary atomic bombs on Japan basically with the intention of scaring the shit out of the USSR? And why did the USSR need scaring? Why did all those Japanese civilians need to be vaporized? Because, again, the USSR was explicitly opposed to US capital interests and this was simply unacceptable. The US gov would (and still does) happily vaporize millions of people if trade networks and access to resources can be maintained.

Hey here's a relevant one to ponder considering the Russia/Ukraine conflict: you mean the country that funded a group of mostly psychopaths and religious fundamentalists in Afghanistan and the general region in the 1970-1980s who ran across that country murdering, raping, doing truly unspeakable shit, basically forced Soviet intervention in an attempt to maintain some semblance of a government. And then several decades later led basically directly to the 9/11 events and two more decades of the US ruthlessly bombing and murdering and supporting the same warlords... you're telling me this country that would befriend and support people like bin Laden gets to say who's the "bad guy" in the world?

So, off the bat, the US's opinion is less than dogshit in value. Even dogshit would be disgusted at stepping in the US's opinion.

If there ever to be any sort of intervention for some sort of righteous cause it absolutely has to start with the US sitting the fuck out of any negotiations, talks, votes, whatever. The US has proven too many times for 100 years+ that it absolutely cannot be trusted to do ANYTHING good. It will poison any discussion- something becoming very clear and apparent to world leaders who are now often seeking to bypass the US and use countries like China as an intermediary.

But you have open discussions, UN votes and such, you find the facts of the situation, and you figure out what the most "just" end to a conflict is.

It gets sketchy from there because I'm basically never going to justify bombing countries. It's not happening. I could potentially see justification for a UN sanctioned removal (assassination) of especially toxic leaders... but the problem there, of course, is complicated by so many questions: "do we have access to all the relevant facts? What is the CIA (or to be totally fair: Russia or Chinese intelligence) hiding from us? How did the person/political group gain power? Trace it allllllll the way back. Who benefits from their downfall or continued time in power? Who loses? Is this just more US bullshit (always the first and main question from me)?"

Saddam Hussein, Gaddafi in Libya, bin Laden, Pol Pot, my list can continue, are all specific reasons that I find it very very very hard to believe the ANY US state dept condemnation and "justification for war." Even fucking Putin is the direct fucking result of US interference and meddling that eventually caused the dissolution of the Soviet Union (in part anyway) and the resulting catastrophic, what I'd call a genocide, mass privatization and selling off of public property for pennies on the dollar of its actual value in former Soviet states which resulted in a shitload of suicides, material conditions plummeting, and, eventually, "strong men" like Putin rising up and seizing it from the puppets the US put in power.

So when it comes to the Ukraine/Russia stuff, all I can do, with all the historical context, is say "well, this was expected." I really do feel bad for normal people caught up in the bullshit. I just think many Americans fail to grasp a very plain and simple truth: the American government is the reason for the shit in Ukraine. Whether you think Putin has a point or that he's doing infinite genocide, it doesn't matter, he's there, those countries exist, because of meddling from the fucking United States. My main concern is less-so over a border conflict (which honestly I do not give a half fuck about- help evacuate Ukrainians who don't want to be Russian and then cede the eastern parts to Russia. Why do Europeans care again? Oh yeah, orcs, bad guys, etc. never mind!) but more focused on Americans learning fucking something after the same thing happening a hundred times. Stop fucking meddling and stop creating reasons for war! And stop fucking falling for the state department lines like "well, maybe we did do some bad stuff! But Putin is doing it NOW! So we gotta stop him!" No. No, we never have to do anything. It's a false dichotomy. It's bullshit sold to tug on your poor American exceptionalism feefees and make you go "yeah, we blundered around. That was bad. But we meant well! Putin is just an evil orc-man!" I know it's hard as fuck for Americans to accept that we are the bad guys, we did and do the bad shit, and that more meddling will never undo or fix OR EVEN HAS THE TRUE INTENTION OF "FIXING" situations once they boil over. That's hard to accept, it sucks knowing that people before you put dominos in place and the least-bad option for you is mostly to stand back and let shit happen. If you try to put more dominos in or stop some from toppling, I can promise you based on all available history, those dominos are millions of people's lives and you're just setting up more to die no matter any sort of intentions you may have (which are probably wrong and misguided anyway).

Hot dogs are pretty meh. Apple pie is pretty delicious but ultimately how much innovation really went into taking old recipes from elsewhere and deleting other fruit and inserting new, indigenous/nearby fruits. It just feels like someone creating lamb stew when they already knew how to make beef stew. It's still delicious, but, ok? For food to be "proud" of, I think that has to absolutely go to all the types of smoking meats people have come up with and the various sauces. Smoked pork ribs are delicious. Robo-Zuck said it best: "smokin' meats." Or whatever that weirdo said. He was on the right track, but unfortunately he's also an android. So close.

The only stuff I can think of that the US produces and has saturated and rotted the brains of the world is media. Movies, TV, music, radio, now days podcasts, videogames, etc. For better or worse, this is probably the one thing the US has consistently churned out and the thing I imagine people associate with the US around the world (besides being world police war criminals). I could be cynical, or maybe even correct, and look at US produced media as brain worm fuel to spread bullshit narratives... and that would be true for the most part. But I'm being a lib here, so, "Hollywood good!" And brainworms or not, everyone enjoys some good brainless entertainment.

But that doesn't exactly help the average person. In fact it probably hurts them by perpetuating BS narratives that the US is good, wars are necessary and justified, and whatever other garbage. It also has an (probably unintended.. probably) effect of pacifying the population because people consume media like some anti corporate documentary, they feel like they did something, and now no one acts further. Not to blame media completely of course, just worse noting.

This nation is just fundamentally a bullshit broken shattered semblance of a real country. It always has been since the founding, and it's never shaken those roots. It's not that surprising really that we can't fucking get anything worthwhile when the system of government was quite literally cockblocked, cucked, whatever word people like to use, from the beginning in favor of capital and specifically at the time slavers and their precious rights. And when we had a real actual change to rectify that problem, because it IS a problem, and eliminate remnants of federalism... well, first some dude blew the president's head off. And then his VP and every president after had lost the moment and chance for real change plus they had no desire for it. Imagine if the senate had been abolished and the electoral college gotten rid of in favor of a purely democratic vote for the head of the executive branch? Imagine that scotus had been reigned in on how they can rule and not rule? There was all the potential in the world... and it basically evaporated along with the gun smoke wafting out of Lincoln's dome.

This country is just a repeated story over and over and over of "sane" people, the majority, bowing to the tyrannical and insane delusions and demands of the minority. From simple landowners, to slavers, to today with (still...) landlords, corporations, the hogs, we just can't ever actually do anything resembling a democracy. We keep a system set up by the privileged few to enforce the desires of the privileged few and it, by design, makes change goddamn nearly impossible and change can encompass everything from drastically reducing and ending fossil fuel usage, ending the military industrial complex, ending the individualistic toxic culture we've built. So it's no wonder that we can't do anything or produce anything besides movies and smoked ribs. The only things we make here are made by individuals or small groups. The idea of the entire nation doing anything or agreeing on anything is a dream. Maybe that's the real American dream. The delusion that this country is capable of doing anything fucking productive as a nation. Building infrastructure- impossible. Ending pollution and CO2 production- impossible. Ending forever funding of wars and weapons- impossible.

So, serve me a slice of lukewarm hotdog pie. Mmm. 'Merica.

I can’t take anyone serious who thinks the economy is “good.” Putting aside my personal thoughts on capitalist economics and how many shits I give about it (negative shits), it’s just sad-funny to see these libbed up boomer vampires talk about how “good” everything is while healthcare still isn’t universally available, homes are unaffordable, and general food and essential commodities are still outpacing any sort of recent wage increases.

I guess if you’re the feudal lord-in-waiting everything is going great. The serfs-in-waiting are a little bit bummed out though, I gotta say.

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 2 years ago

I think he’s just incredibly stupid. When trying to figure out someone’s actions just consider what motivates them. Elon desperately wants people to adore him. He probably really thought he could buy a giant media-adjacent outlet and turn it into a machine to churn out pro-him propaganda. Obviously he misunderstood many variables though, the first of which being that unlike a newspaper or TV network, the owner of Twitter doesn’t create or really control the content created and put out. I mean, he can and does censor certain stuff now, and Twitter always has but in the past it did lean more towards banning Nazi shit which was better. But in general, people are gonna do what they and no matter how much he boosts his dedicated blue psychos it can’t overcome the that right wing shit just isn’t popular outside of a small subset of the people. You can’t make an entire website dedicated to advocating for the deaths of transkids and expect it to be popular. He bought into the BS hype around the right wing in general. They mistake rigging “democratic elections” (gerrymandering, voter suppression, etc.) as proof of their popularity. No, it just proves they can rig shit and people are ignorant and/or apathetic. Polling proves repeatedly that even burger munching Americans are pro-socialist type programs when not poisoned with the word itself (poisoned due to a life of indoctrination to get a knee jerk NO if they hear it).

[–] Justice@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 2 years ago

I think this is correct.

Also, it’s incredibly ironic because him and all those weirdos like him. The altright, or whatever the fuck they are, “freedom of speech brother!” “Socialism is slavery!” “Crypto will free us!” “Covid was a Chinese hoax!” types of dipshits. They’re like the far right version of what they imagine “woke” liberals to be. I’m not drawing equivalency in the ideologies (obviously), just pointing out that they are, literally, the overly performative, loud, obnoxious virtue signaling people they imagine “woke liberals” to be and mock constantly. Almost like… they’re projecting. Hmm.

And there’s another saying amongst the right wingers… “go woke, go broke.” Welp. It turns out they were their own snake eating their own ass on that one. They smoked too of their own stash. Drank their own Koolaid. Shot themselves in the fucking head.
