Yes and they claim it is connected to your instagram account, hmm then it means it is not fully decentralized? Because instagram account is centralized and threads account connected to it.

Offtopic : They display number your threads joint user number on instagram, I got so big because my account got eligible today lol

yup, it uses same ActivityPub protocol.

i don't know about ios but some client allow you to copy image url, just copy image url and paste in browser long press on image and click save/download. If client not provide image url then copy post url and open it in browser then follow same steps from long press on image
