  1. Google searches for open directories. One dude found an RIAA directory full of media, but it quickly got secured.

  2. YouTube

  3. Ringtone sites

  4. Asian (Indian) sites, with heavy use of Google translate.

Chrome became popular for 2 reasons:

  1. Nerds recommended it after installing windows.
  2. It's the default browser for Android.

Number 1 isn't always true anymore but has momentum while 2 is fixed. Until something changes, Chrome is cemented into web browsing.
