I had to read this twice to realize I agree.
When I was looking for somewhere to live in Montreal we looked at a few old upper duplexes and a few condos. The condos were tiny, expensive and many floors up in the sky. The upper duplexes were huge, similarly priced and not so far up. I don't know who is living in the condo buildings, but they keep building them.
You probably forgot about biofuel because it is not a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. You don't get back enough energy relative to what you put in. The only reason it exists is due to government subsidies and mandates.
We should start with an inheritance tax, like the US has, and then look into gift taxes and wealth taxes. And do our best to majorly tax the top 1%.
The sad thing is that we could not even get the capital gains tax through. That was our most recent opportunity on this front.
Anyone have an idea on what policy changes have lead to capital becoming more productive than wages? This is a very troubling situation. Labour drives the economy, not capital.
Yeah, some kind of legislation here would be nice. At least the credit card companies aren't as entrenched as in the states.
That's one thing to add to the list to boycott the US. Stop using visa and mastercard and use debit instead.

The "all winners will have a plurality of votes" part is a critical part. Ranked choice will fundamentally change how the representative is regarded after elected. Too many are elected with 30 or 40% currently.
