I understand on paper how these right wing governments get into power. But I can't understand it at a fundamental level. How do people see a political party like that and think "yes this will help me be less poor. This will make the country better"?

Is it a lack of education? Hatred for what they do not understand? I just can't understand or relate to it. I don't understand how someone could come to these conclusions.

I'm surprised there hasn't been something bigger and better than Harry Potter at this point. Surely somebody can write a better wizard fantasy, right?

Yeah! I do totally get where you're coming from. No worries about the length of the text, I enjoyed reading it.

I guess it's just hard, and we have to try our best in whatever ways we can and try to be the best people we can be. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter :)

I think in this case, mockery does not really do much. There needs to be larger punishments. Financial or prison time or something else idk.

There's the paradox of tolerance, and i think as a society globally, we've been tolerating intolerance for too long, and now we've ended up with fascists in the Whitehouse and in other governments around the world. It's a hard issue to solve. Idk what the solution is, but mockery doesn't seem to resolve it

It's really damn weird seeing a large group of people just all collectively lying for prolonged periods of time. It feels so bizarre knowing that if anyone else did that, they would be fired, fined, or possibly face prison time for doing that (especially in Trump and his parties' case).

I get whiplash hearing all the BS on a daily basis. It really has shown that laws only apply to the poor

That seems like a massive oversight. That's so weird. I get it's probably way easier to implement it the way they did. But because you likely will wana group with friends, it really limits people

I think a key distinction is that it's likely not that people don't want to do the work. It's likely unfavorable to do the work. If the incentive was high, people would do it.

For foreign workers, the money earned goes much further. So, working a job like that seems like a blessing. But for someone living in the area, the job (likely?) doesn't pay enough to live.

I don't really know what the solution is, but it's something that has always rubbed me the wrong way. People should be paid well for their work. Regardless of the job you do, you deserve a livable wage, healthcare, etc.

Well that's interesting, thanks for sharing. I think it's good to always ask questions about what media we consume. Even if we like what it's saying or think it's fine. Critical thinking and being cautious can never hurt

Thank you for the information. I think I had seen that video, but didn't consider the timing of when it released. That does seem odd.

I haven't gotten a chance to watch the video yet. Will have to later today, but can you tell me more about the second thought stuff?

I've watched that channel, but I'm unaware of what might be wrong with it. Is there something that seems off about it? I thought it was pretty interesting, but I haven't gone too in-depth into the channel

I don't understand why it's ok if you're rich. Heck, even if people perceive you as wealthy or powerful, you can get away with a lot.

(Is there a more appropriate community to post this in?) Thank you in advance for any advice/help!

I've come across this build on PC part picker, but I was hoping someone could help me customize it a bit better for my needs. I'm going to be streaming, gaming, and editing videos on this machine.

I would like to future-proof the PC as much as I reasonably can (10-15 years' usage would be great).

My budget is probably around 2-3k CAD? I am over extending myself slightly, but I have used my PC daily for 12 years, and I figure if not now, when?

The only other thing I might consider is new monitors, but otherwise, I'll be reusing all my peripherals as those are more recently upgraded!

I was also thinking a better Nvidia card might be worthwhile? The main thing is I'm not familiar with how the parts work in terms of compatibility. That and electrical usage/needs from the power supply

Edit: are prebuilts any good nowadays? I'm not opposed to the idea. I know I could figure out assembly myself, but if there's something worthwhile, I wouldn't be opposed either.

Edit: Just want to say thank you for all the helpful advice and information. I ended up finding a PC that met my needs and then some!

What are your thoughts on this? Are you happy? Sad?

I'm extremely curious. If you asked me this as a kid, I would have been celebrating. I always thought games should be accessible to everyone. But now I'm questioning if Microsoft plans to keep the Xbox ecosystem alive.

Exclusive titles are/were the incentive to keep people on certain consoles. Currently, I think only gamepass and digital libraries would be the only reason to stay with Microsoft if they continue to make systems in the future.

Additionally, I'm curious as to how this could destabilize the market. With no direct competition for high end hardware (other than pc/the steam deck), Sony can kinda do whatever they please.

I feel like I've played a good amount of horror titles, and I find I don't really get scared much anymore.

What are some titles that scared you the most? I would love to hear your recommendations!
