Congrats! This is awesome. As someone who was in this place a few years back, I can honestly say that your future self will thank you for sticking with this.
About 5 years ago, I started working out consistently, and it's the best thing I've done for myself in a really long time. Once it became a habit, I missed working out if I couldn't make it for a few days. I crave it now. I am in my mid-forties now, but I'm fitter than I was for most of my thirties, and I have more energy for things.
So great job for getting active again, and stick with it! You will be so happy you did.
Obviously, don't try to do much at once :) But as a woman in your forties, resistance training is highly recommended! It's a great way to ensure functional fitness, and it's the best protection against developing osteoporosis as we head into peri-menopause and beyond.
So, if you are able to add that in, it will definitely be worthwhile.
