Update: Sky did not fall. I did need to mess with an image and put some text on it yesterday but found that Windows has a thing called Designer and that seemed to have more than enough functionality for my needs. Yay!

I wonder if this Adobe price hike won't turn out to be a bit of an own goal for them. Imagine if millions of lazy users like me who were paying monthly but not really using the software were all motivated by the price hike to review their use of Adobe products and cancel... eep.

But getting shit wrong is not curruption.

Sure, but corruption is corruption:

Italy: 12 arrests and over €9.6 million seized in investigation into agricultural funding fraud €440k frozen in Italy over suspect scam by fake farmers Italy smashes mafia racket defrauding EU agriculture funds 94 arrested in Italy over EU agriculture funding fraud

And the shit you saw with the EU. Is really just evidence on how open they are.

Well, their own reports are pretty damning: The Commission’s response to fraud in the Common Agricultural Policy There's a "Conclusions and recommendations" section that's quite illuminating.

Thank you for not just swearing at me. It's appreciated :) So in terms of specific examples I can think of a few. The "Traveling Circus" was one where the EU was spending between 100 to 200 million Euros at an environmental cost of an extra 19k tonnes of CO2 annually moving their seat between Brussels and Strasbourg for the purely political reason of France insisting the Strasbourg remain a seat of power. Then there was also the Common Agricultural Policy that became infamous for subsidising farmland that wasn't even producing food. French and Italian farmers were accused of manipulating records and misusing funds. There were concerns over auditing and transparency too. Misuse or misallocation of regional development funds, corruption scandals in southern and eastern members states and just generally a lack of accountability in how EU money was distributed and monitored. There's lots more detail we could get into but I think those are some fairly representative examples.

"We've been trying to contact you about your car's extended warranty".

You need to look a bit harder. The keyword you're looking for is "impartial".

So casting aspersions on the source of the source of my source but not acknowledging the problematic nature of the source itself? Got it.

Yeah they like to make it sound very official too like they're part of some government body and it's your duty as a citizen to give them in particular your money. They spammed me for an impressive amount of time. I just ignored them and eventually they gave up.

Literally just cancelled and uninstalled every paid Adobe app I ever had. Currently hiding under desk in case sky falls.

Absolutely and also money insulates you from challenging feedback. She suddenly had no one saying no to her. What surprised me was how fast she went from being embarrassed living in a house with servants to ordering them around and complaining about the slightest mistake. In a lot of ways I felt I lost my Mum. The Mum I grew up with anyhow. Money is great but it can also be a toxic drug that's really hard to resist in my experience.

That's interesting. I'm always open to new perspectives. You sound like you have some experience in the field. Can I ask, are you a psychologist?

I am a reddit refugee from the mod wars. I love it here. I originally made an mbin account but then 9 months ago mbin seemed to die so I made a new fedia.io account and things have been going swimmingly so far.

A few days ago I noticed that fedia.io pages have been loading increasingly slowly. All I am wondering is where the best magazine/online place/other forum I can check is to see if there are any issues happening on fedia.io or anything that might be responsible for the slowed performance.

I can't just search "Is fedia.io down" like I would with other online resources. Any help or steer towards more appropriate places for me to ask this question would be much appreciated.

The only group that's ever accepted me and has welcomed me without doing that so far has been my local drama group (and, of course, this place :) ). There, it seems my "Golden retriever" energy is always welcomed and in fact valued. What's been your experience?

I'm talking about things like:

most realistic physics most aesthetically pleasing sea most fun to play most immersive (pun intended (I'll sea myself out)) most activities available at sea most variety of sea going vessels

Games with impressive seas that I've played so far:

Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Triremes and heaving seas) Just Cause 3 (Sparkling blue mediterranean seas) Sea of Thieves (Monsters and pirates) Sailwind (Gentle seas and actual sailing mechanics) Silent Depth 2 Pacific (Sneaky WW2 subs) Cold Waters (Sneaky modern subs) Uboat (Beautiful WW2 seas, rare shooting opportunities) Subnautica (Thalassophobia and crafting)

I've also noticed that Ships at Sea has just gone on sale. If you've played it recently was it any good?

I also need to add Fluffy Sailors which I bought today. So cute and so much fun :)

It's such an overcrowded genre isn't it? I mean it's ridiculous how many top down games there are out there... I've played so many now, they just blend into each other.

Are there any top down games that do something different (or the same but really really well). For example, my last really positive experiences with this format were Desperados 3 and Shadow Gambit The Cursed Crew.

Do you feel your can be open about it with a potential employer?

and why?

and why?

Genuinely would love to see a list of Steam games that don't rely on that premise.
