why the need to accuse me of re-editing a comment? (which never happened)

You edited this comment after I posted my reply to it which talked about archaeology. I thought you'd edited the comment to remove mention of archaeology, but I was wrong, that mention came from this comment of yours.

But then, I realized I'd been wrong, and retracted the wrong thing I'd said, and apologized about it. Not sure how you even managed to see my wrong accusation within the ~2 minutes or whatever that it was on Lemmy, but in any case, my bad.

What you are seemingly trying to tell me here, “PhilipTheBucket,” is that you’re not really able to countenance the actual arguments I’m making above.

Now would you say that’s a fair or unfair statement? If unfair, could you give me some facts & reality-based reasons as to why not?

I pretty much agree with this comment of yours. I have absolutely no reason why that would mean we have to continue to bicker. I do think that comment is pretty firmly in contradiction to your earlier statements ("King Arthur / Robin Hood"), but whatever, I see no profit at all in us having a dispute about that part of it.

Well, you're not wrong as far as the letter of the law I guess, but reinstalling them shows intent to not shut them down. You might be right about the letter of the law, but I feel like it is indicative that they don't have any respect for the city's right to control the stuff that goes on within its borders independent of the greater fascist forces that are trying to exert control everywhere no matter what people say. The city sort of tacitly admitting that Flock might be running them when they're not supposed to, but dealing with it in this cowardly way by just wrapping bags around them, seems like not the vigorous defense of liberty that is needed right now. If they push, push back. That's my feeling.

Lol thank you very much. I have for-real started to suspect that people are making a goal out of having pointlessly disagreeable conversations on Lemmy about trivial topics for some unknown reason.

Almost certainly it is not that, just me being paranoid and Lemmy is being kind of stupid as the internet is known to be sometimes, but it's really hard to look at this conversation or this one and not conclude that someone is just being a pain in the ass on purpose.

(Actually, I think the inclusion of "democrat" as an adjective is kind of indicative of one very particular purpose for having this one particular conversation with me which doesn't seem to have any factual basis for the person to think the things they are saying that they think, but it goes beyond that. Usually it seems just random. There are just lots of people on Lemmy who will say something without thinking and then try to defend it to death so they won't have to "lose" the conversation, I think is the most likely actual explanation.)

That's very much part of the goal.

The people architecting and implementing the almost unfathomable power of the US government right now make their whole living and success off stealing it from people who do actual work, even if doing that causes tremendous damage. So of course they want to reshape the system to make it easier to steal people's money and work, and make it harder to prevent people from doing that (including demolishing systems for even arriving at the objective reality of what's going on so you can tell if someone is stealing or otherwise doing damage.)

Once you realize that, a lot of things that seem just kind of pointlessly malicious start to make sense.

The SEC's suit alleges that between 2020 and 2022, Mehr and Lopez, "made material misrepresentations" to hundreds of investors about the bankrupt retailers they had acquired. For example, to entice individuals to invest in their acquisitions, they said their portfolio companies were "on fire" and that "cash flow is strong." They also told prospective backers that money raised for a company would only be invested in that specific firm. That proved not to be the case

Of course, who knows whether it is true, although it sounds plausible. But absolutely it sounds like they intended to defraud investors.

REV was accused of buying a bunch of semi-worthless businesses and then pumping up their value in various ways from 2020 to 2022. During the time of the alleged behavior, they owned Radio Shack, and their ownership of it was involved in the alleged malfeasance it sounds like.

The fact that after all was said and done, they sold it, doesn't really have a lot of bearing on what they were or weren't doing with it years before, when they did own it.
