Lol the revolutionary war was about economic independence for the land owning minority within the colonies. They forced the lower class to fight the war for them and then charged them for the service. They ended up in debters prison after the war. That's what the Shays' Rebellion was all about! How on earth could anyone interpret it any other way, especially when you consider the ultimate result of that war, which was the total and completely colonization from east to west and an ethnic genocide of indigenous peoples.

The ruling class was not interested in democracy for the masses, it was not anti colonial or anti imperial, it only sought democracy for a narrow band of people, specifically the land owning anglos and continued their colonial agenda to expand their wealth and power:

All communities divide themselves into the few and the many. The first are rich and well born; the other, the mass of the people. The voice of the people has been said to be the voice of God; and however generally this maxim has been quoted and believed, it is not true in fact. The people are turbulent and changing; they seldom judge or determine right. Give therefore to the first class a distinct, permanent share in the government. They will check the unsteadiness of the second; and as they cannot receive any advantage by change, they will therefore maintain good government.

It's like every trek show, the first season is hard to watch and the ones after are actually good. Well, except for Disco.

You know the last time Queers got an identifying patch it didn't go well for them.

Alright folks, time to get into the Taiwan flag business 📈 . I have a feeling the market is about to grow, anyone invested in Ukraine flags still is a fool! 📉

Under the new framework, when a union requests recognition on the basis that a majority of employees in an appropriate bargaining unit have designated the union as their representative, an employer must either recognize and bargain with the union or promptly file an RM petition seeking an election. However, if an employer who seeks an election commits any unfair labor practice that would require setting aside the election, the petition will be dismissed, and—rather than re-running the election—the Board will order the employer to recognize and bargain with the union

The critical bit is bolded for emphasis. Any attempt to delay or reset the election process will result in instant union recognition and a demand for bargaining.

That’s not my business.

What is your business then exactly? Is it property, or people? You seem to be on the side of property with no regard for the conditions of the people who exist on that property.

Me and my family use 1Password for password management. I would stay as far away from LastPass as you can they have an AWFUL track record of keeping your information safe and secure.

Didn't you know? It's the 20s all over again. Musolini came into power in 1922. Welcome to the 100 year backslide.

You're welcome comrade! My brain was putting off doing real work at the end of the day, so it was no effort at all 😉. I saw a few sources split those lists in that way so I figured I'd include it. It's not exhaustive or comprehensive, and I'm not a psychologist, just a guy with ADHD lol, so defer to your licensed practitioner for confirmation.

It's not considered a spectrum and that's mostly because, when you get down to brass tacks, we all live within a spectrum of behavior. Instead, ADHD is a comingling of interoperating dysfunctions within specific systems of a person's brain that relate to how the brain rewards your behaviors (to my understanding anyway). Ultimately, while everyone can experience moments of forgetfulness, inattention, anxiety, or hyperfocus, what matters most is if those things happen at a frequency enough to become a detriment to your everyday life.

ADHD can be broken into 3 types from my understanding:

  • Inattentive ADHD (often most diagnosed in girls):
    • Trouble paying close attention to details, such as making "careless mistakes" in schoolwork, including missing or inaccurate details in work
    • Has difficulty sustaining attention in tasks or play activities, such as staying focused during lectures, in conversations, or reading lengthy items
    • Seems not to be listening when spoken to directly and may seem to be daydreaming or not be "in the moment"
    • Does not follow through on instructions; has trouble finishing tasks such as schoolwork, chores, or other duties; and may start tasks but lose focus and get sidetracked
    • Often has difficulty with organization, such as managing tasks and keeping work or home spaces neat, as well as problems with time management and missing deadlines
    • Avoids, dislikes, or is reluctant to engage in tasks that require sustained mental effort, such as schoolwork or homework, preparing reports, and filling out forms
    • Loses items they need for tasks or activities, such as pencils, books, tools, glasses, and keys
    • Easily distracted by things around them or by unrelated thoughts
    • Forgetful in daily activities and may forget to do chores and errands, return phone calls, pay bills, or keep appointments
  • Hyperactive/Impulsive ADHD (often most diagnosed in boys):
    • Experiencing extreme restlessness, difficulty sitting still for extended periods, and/or wearing others out with one’s activity
    • Fidgeting with or tapping hands or feet or squirming in the seat
    • Being unable to engage quietly in leisure activities
    • Talking excessively
    • Answering questions before they are asked completely
    • Having difficulty waiting for one’s turn, such as when waiting in line
    • Interrupting or intruding on others
  • Combination ADHD (skewed more to boys than girls): This is, as the name suggests, a combination of the two above, where no one of the trait groups is dominant but collectively is still impacting the patients day to day life.

I definitely suffer from a combination of both. I have intense moments of hyperactivity, and I can be easily wound up into an excited state (It's like an energy feedback loop), but I'm constantly misplacing things, and I'm awful at future sights and sensing the passage of time. I'm very fidgety and can talk excessively, I have to bite my tongue to not interrupt people if I think I know where their question is going. I have reminders for all kinds of daily and weekly tasks to ensure I never forget them. I have a whiteboard in a prominent place where we can place future events so I can mentally prepare for them. Finishing tasks is super hard, once I get through the "interesting" guts of a project, all the "finishing touches" that make it "done" are boring and a real grind to do. Reading is still a very hard task for me, if I'm not medicated it's almost impossible for me to get through several pages of a book at a time.

Maybe you know all this already, maybe not. For a long time, it was very rare for girls to get an ADHD diagnosis because of how it presents for girls. But this is the first step in understanding how the adhd mind works, which allows you to build around it so you can midgate the bad parts and harness the good parts.

Blue light does not cause harm, that is a myth perpetuated by eyeglass corporations to sell you a product. You get more exposure to blue light from the sun than you ever will from your device screens. The only impact blue light has on you is interrupting your circadian rhythm.

and in terms of "memory" the article explains it:

This was because using the device shifted the way that people used their memory to store high-importance versus low-importance information. When people had to remember by themselves, they used their memory capacity to remember the most important information. But when they could use the device, they saved high-importance information into the device and used their own memory for less important information instead.

Right? And who do you think asked them to put it in there?

I know that I can use 3rd party services to set up a tunnel, like Cloudflare, but I'd like to implement this myself.

I feel like every time I research this question I find all kinds of blogs / form posts across the timescape on the topic, and I'm just looking for whatever might be the most current or recommended best method of configuring a VPS tunnel. I'm behind a CG-Nat which is why I want to set one up.

If you've done this recently yourself, where did you get your info from?

Thanks!

Obviously it's all postering and propaganda, and there was never any REAL threat. I guess TikTok is safe for now LOL.

Barbie: who saw it? (lemmygrad.ml)
submitted 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) by RedWizard@lemmygrad.ml to c/comradeship@lemmygrad.ml

Today was the first day that both our kids are in day-care all day. Effectively the end of our parental leave. Me and my SO decided to treat ourselves to a movie and saw Barbie. We figured if the conservative sphere was getting pissy about it, it must be good.

Anyone else see it?

I wasn't expecting much. I have to say, I don't think I could have ever expected this movie to be what it was. It's campy, funny, colorful, and steps on your throat with it's message and hardly let's it off. I say that as positivity as someone can.

It's amusing to me that some people think the movie is anti-man. It did make me feel mournful for my daughters inevitable loss of innocence. A corporate, big budget toy advertisement of all things. I think that's the most surprising part. In some ways Barbie is the most unlikely and perfect vehicle for what the movie has to say.

I don't know. It's conflicting because, at the end of the day it's a huge corporate puff peace, but also... What else could deliver it's message to so many people?

I gotta know. It just looks so forced. In the most recent video I saw homie was "buying his first computer" and he was a "compsci professor" in cuba but never owned a computer/laptop.

What are you using to keep informed of new software versions? Most of what I'm looking to track is open source and on GitHub but some isn't. Getting alerts via Google chat or slack or email would be cool.

Not sure if this is even something that exists at the moment.

I started listening to the Parenti Collection (thanks to the comrade who compiled this) for the first time today, starting from the top "Images of Imperialism", and I am hooked.

This I'm sure some of you know already, but Parenti is passionate, knowledgeable, and humorous. I couldn't put it down today, and listened to 3 of his talks at work.

E23 - This was all something I was aware of at the edges of my understanding, but the depth and breath of his knowledge and the sheer volume of examples of Western imperialism he presented opened my eyes even more. Very powerful to the point of instilling in me even just a fraction of his frustration.

E22 - Another eye opening talk. One of those stories that leaves you wondering "what else have I never investigated like this". We all know the story of Caesar, but I realize I've never once asked or wondered why he was assassinated.

E21 - What a wonderfully human story. Such a contrast to the previous two, with Parenti's humor and wit on full display. I can see why he is so believed. "I do this for those people, the ones who are just to tired from work to have sex" not only an extremely humorous story, but also something I think is easy to lose sight of. This leftist movement is as much for our over worked and underpaid gender queer barristas as it is for our deer hunting trade union construction worker. He mentioned the book "The Hidden Injuries of Class" and I feel like I should put it on my to-read list.

Anyway, if you didn't know this archive existed, now you do!
