Renault EV's have their own variation of magnetless EV motors that they install on all their EV. So they need less (now very expensive) rare earth metals.

I'm afraid, once more, it's something they are going to pat themselves on the back. "EU great US bad!" They might get a few more quids off Facebook, Google Amazon etc... But it won't change anything in the end.

A bit like the French pushing for food quality when a huge share of their agricultural production is tainted with high doses of Cadmium.

He did nationalise the electric and nuclear giant EDF, the french state did buy a majority share in Eutelsat. So it's not as clear cut a situation as it seems.

In 1930's Germany, the NAZI party had the same logistics and financial cost of displacement problems. They figured out a solution. This freezes my blood.

France is deep in public debt ( if they weren't in the EU, the world bank and IMF would have already stepped on the breaks) yet still makes the stupid 5% promise because that's what it is: a statement towards Russia.

Hasn't Iran a religious edict stating they cannot build or use nukes? We could be in a iraki WMD phase again (expecting Powell's jar to appear any moment now).
