Taler supports push and pull payments between wallets (also known as peer-to-peer payments). While the payment appears to be directly between wallets, technically the operation is intermediated by the payment service provider which will typically be legally required to identify the recipient of the funds before allowing the transaction to complete.

an additional note: part of why is it not perfect is that you can't send money privately to another person, like you would do with cash. in transactions like that there is a 3rd party involved that overses the transaction

you can't remove the Google search bar from the Pixel launcher is still crazy to me.

yeah that's crazy, but it's relatively easy to fix compared to deep rooted bloat and whatnot in the system. the pixels even have good support for some alt ROMs, that can't be told about most samsungs, so you are basically forced to use their software

also, I would rather have "subpar" hardware and a decent OS than trendy hardware and all the bloat and datamining of the world. but that honestly excludes most phones.

they could probably just extend it with the bits that google requires for corporate approval, and release that as a fork, while still contributing to the development of base graphene os.

I mean they don't need to use plain graphene, a partnership could make things easier for both parties by avoiding needless duplication of efforts.
