I have enjoyed learning more about FOSS over the last 15 years, and have only contributed some logistics and occasional monetary donations. I think the point of FOSS is that it is disparate and people contribute what they can.

There are always going to be people out there that don't fully understand and treat FOSS software contributors like they are receiving a million dollar salary to code them. Then there are those purists who want 100% FOSS even if it compromises usability.

All of that to say, if you feel like sharing with a wider audience you can and I am sure someone will appreciate it. But if you choose to keep it for personal use to avoid the headache that is understandable too. If you share it and get some hate, just tell them to fork off, lol.

It is very exhausting to do activism with such a small group surrounded by a larger oppressive system. Ironically, the best thing is to make sure you are still taking care of your own needs and rest. Not only because it will make sure you don't burnout and can continue to help in the long term, but because by setting that example for other people to see it is possible to help without being overwhelmed.

In my opinion, the initial challenge to get people involved is to have them witness for themselves what is going on and what they can do to contribute. Once they see the need and a path to help then they are more likely to do so. But they also have to see that helping does not have to include giving up all their time with their loved ones and being destitute.

How about we stop the blame game and stay focused on fighting for both (and to be honest many more) causes?

There was always going to be a fight, it was only a matter of how we were going to fight.

"Since the strike began a year ago, other unions have elected to support the Swedish workers. That means the shipping of Tesla cars to Swedish ports has been blocked, the cleaning of Tesla facilities has been halted, postal deliveries for Tesla — including new license plates — to all Tesla offices no longer take place, and connecting new Tesla Supercharger stations to the power grid has been interrupted. Tesla has repeatedly lost legal battles against these solidarity strikes and was recently required to pay SEK6.5m ($607,000) in legal costs to PostNord, the Swedish postal service."

I wish we had that kind of solidarity here in the USA... and that the courts would uphold the right to do so.

Not only a videogame, but also a sequel!

Ethics and morals are a murky thing. Simon de Beauvoir wrote a whole book called The Ethics of Ambiguity on it and everything. Wouldn't it also be unethical for me to vote against my own conscious?

I think the "if" is doing a lot of work too

I don't need any mental gymnastics or long winded explanation. Both of the major party candidates have parts of their platform that are deal breakers for me. So, I will exercise my right to vote for someone that more aligns with my values.

Isn't that basically what the average person living anywhere face everyday?

My wife is the same way. She doesn't care so I just use her phone number for everything. But then she wonders why she gets more spam calls than me...

It's better for OP to explain, but from what I read they don't mind it being used in a collective work, but they want to make sure that collective work will also be CC-BY-SA. What from what they read it is no guarantee.

Oh no, how evil, they bombed a school and hospital…

I know I shouldn't feed the troll, but um...Yeah, that is evil that they bombed a school and hospital. It is also evil on what is happening in Ukraine. Both can be true.

However, the USA has a a larger influence to put a stop on only one of them, and that is by, at the very least, dramatically reducing the arms being sent to Israel. If Israel knew they would not get resupplied with weapons and ammo so easily then it would make them think twice about using what they already have.

I came across this website that focuses on highlighting books that are out if print but still worthy of reading, if you can find them. The most recent post (Feb. 29 2024) talks about the various reasons books become neglected.

Mathematically they're equivalent, but the feelings could not be further apart.

This book was compelling to read not because of any sense of mystery, of which there is some, but because I wanted to learn more about what the characters were thinking as the author cycled through all their different perspectives.

This part of the article was the really infuriating part to me:

"In fact, his research shows that by square footage, there is more housing for each car in this country than there is housing for each person. In 2016, Bloomberg reported that there were more three-car garages being built than one-bedroom apartments."

It is a good read for those that enjoy young adult novels with a good balance of comedy, drama, and discussing some heavy subjects.
