@lobut @itmightbethew ya, cold take actually turned me on to the escapists as a brand rather than just a ZP fan. Was my favorite show they had.
@JDPoZ @HobbitFoot there is definitely talk that RTS split into moba and 'grand strategy'/4x games. That most gamers fell into one of those camps and moved on from the genre.
I remember seeing some new RTS games at PAX east a number of years ago, and it always just felt like worse starcraft to me. Almost all of them feel that way to me.
@Dark_Arc weirdly all my old consoles and games work. I've definitely made more e-waste from PC and upgrades over the years than consoles. (let's not talk about phones...)
@ampersandrew @UrLogicFails okay but how is Nintendo worse than other companies in that regard? Is microsoft or Sony better at the preservation than them in some way I don't understand? Are they better companies to support in that metric?
As for the kid thing, they don't really get much pick in the matter of what game I let them try yet. It's just that I can't FIND any games outside of Nintendos stuff that is quality and fun for the family. It's mostly poor quality IP tie ins. I've looked!

Our first game barely got past 10 reviews in a 2 years, despite real original assets etc. It just didn't click with people. While 'filtering out the slop' will improve the numbers, I'm sure there are many games in a similar boat as ours.
