@ampersandrew @UrLogicFails for better or worse Nintendo does things their own way. You can bet you'd see yearly mario kart releases if that IP belonged to anyone else, and I don't think that would be for the better.
Tearcell
@Pheonixdown @alyaza I had alot of fun doing a bares bones prototype of gravity lashing in 2d. Storm light is just ripe for all sorts of video game adaptations.
Definitely a project I wanna revisit someday.
@Scooter411 ugh I don't know why I bother with cross posting thing. Thanks for the heads up at least.
@frank ya the. Second one really wasn't as good somehow to me. But with the cozy game trend atm it feels like a new entry would do well.
@bijuice I recall when achievements were still kinda new and weird a little game called viva pinata. While it was a creative sandbox of sorts, the achievements essentially guided you to get 'everything' the game had to offer, and it ended up being one of the only 'monster catching' games I actually finished completely and loved.
I think that's probably the way to do it. Freedom to do what you want, but a guide to encourage you to do most of it.
@PersistentDreamer @gaming@beehaw.org @gaming@kbin.social @gaming@lemmy.ml its been a beautiful mess working with them. People have egos, and games are sort of art by committee... Feelings were sometimes hurt, painful cuts made. It's been a fun year and a half but it's been tough too!
I'll be making sure they see your compliment right now, cuz it really does mean alot to all of us. Thanks!
@RiceMunk hm may be a federation thing... I get list easily here still. Doesn't matter! Does this come through?
@ampersandrew @UrLogicFails worst thing I could think of would be yearly bland releases barely worth playing and gutting the innovation they bring.
It's not like every release is brilliant or great (looking at you pokemon violet/scarlet), but look at what happened to Blizzard pre and post acquisition.
