All just going on as usual then. Unnerving to see anyone chant "they're not like us" on a big stage to a big crowd that just effectively voted in a fascist and rapist who is also sitting in the crowd.
Had to think about the days of the week one at a time before realising they all end in Y
Just create a new one
It's fascinating how Lemmy users view internet consumption habits as a reflection of personal ethics. You can't always hold other people to the standards you've achieved. Using and navigating Lemmy takes effort insight that the majority just don't have. Being alive also takes effort and can be very painful. Sometimes people just need to be able to turn off and zone out. Try not to place value judgements on the ways that other people do that.
Yeah absolutely. Grassroots organising is good but so is being angsty on the internet. Like how a few people were talking about voting as a tool for harm prevention on an individual rather than systemic level before the election. Whatever works to make you feel less powerless is a good thing
Doing the the thing in direct opposition to what an authority is demanding is like a trauma response or something.
Yeah. Lemmy users should spend a bit of time deconstructing why tik tok makes them so angry. There's a bit to unpack there. Not that it isn't trash.
Aren't they turning that into a movie at the moment too?
Oh yeah, lifestyle changes will totally change the system, just look how far green capitalism got us /s. As far as I can tell, personal responsibility and guilt is a tool used very successfully by the oppressive classes. It's not progressive to point the finger at people who don't have the luxury of hand picking an "ethical profession"-something I'd love to see an example of? Find better targets to be angry at bud.
I feel like this trope should be applied to jobs outside of science. Like retail. Retail workers are just as prone to insanity and it's up to us to make that romantic and cool in similar ways. Also science outside of physics, like geology.
I've decided this is good and want a Lemmy that is restricted to just the nerdiest of nerds. These little spaces are cool without all those horrible reddit users.
