I always feel the need to puke when reading that utter cunts name. It is beyond my imagination how fucking daft a single person can be.

Never deal with people who are religious or 'spiritual'. They are all delusional and batshit insane. Turn around, walk away, never look back.

I know, but at least a Muppet from Sesame Street.

The Count. Ah, ah, ah, ah!

100 % salmon. Unfortunately one of my neighbours painted their entire house like that and it pisses me off every day walking my dog.

I am so sorry, he was a very dear friend of mine.

If you want to, we can talk about him via PM.

It actually is just the way you described it. But one of my students is technically far beyond most others her age - and still demands playing shitty pop music. Sometimes I really want to make her angry (she's heavy on the spectrum), just so she can unleash her full potential. Have fun with other genres. Like, idk, play a song of my late friend's band Static-X. :D I know she could do it, but she prefers not to. I am not shoving or pushing her. She does what she feels fine with. So, I guess more Swift, more Lady Gaga, more Billie Eilish... ;D

Most of my students are kids / teenagers and especially group classes can be somewhat annoying every now and then. But at the same time it's very rewarding. Sure, sometimes I'm a bit underwhelmed by their taste in music, but hey, I've been a dumbass kid as well back in the day. I love the lessons when I'm not taking any requests, just giving a big lecture about different music genres and then getting into the drumming zone. I teach one advanced class every 2nd week (beginners class is every week) and I love seeing my students light up when it comes to proper challenging stuff. One is a fun nu metal fan who once asked me if I knew how to play "Word up". You mean the Korn version or the actual original? Lol, his mind was blown away after hearing the original for the first time, and that was the original song plus me on the drums playing along to it. :D I might've had shitty parents, but oh dear, both of them had good taste in music and thus I know boatloads of cool stuff all the way down from the mid 50s up until the early 90s.

May I introduce you to Drumeo? :D Rock on! I know some of the people from the channel on a personal level and some of the "listen to the first time" teachers actually taught me the ropes when I started out playing (I used to be coder / keyboarder before getting into playing drums).

Lol, I had to look it up online. There's some very nice Breakcore elements in that music. To quote a friend of mine (who is crazy enough to actually play that sort of stuff live on an oldschool kit every now and then): "Sure, I can play Breakcore live - for about 20 minutes and then I've got to stop because otherwise it would give me a major league heart attack!" :D

Imagine this being bored to your tits:

Imagine being even more bored by pop music... ;-)

It's just always the same. Doesn't matter if it's Taylor or any other pop musician ever since the early 90s.

Damn, now I feel old - and I'm only 38. ^^

I just have fun on the drums playing and teaching when it comes up to speed and different tempos. I love playing challenging stuff - for example Sam & Dave. I do love playing kicks that are not going well initially with crashes. It's just me, being jaded.

But apparently all my students dig my classes, so I can't really complain.

As a person who grew up in Ireland, being a drummer nerd myself, hats off! Such a sweet tribute to Shane. <3

Kennt eigentlich irgendjemand hier das tollste Buch von Douglas Adams? Last chance to see?

So, long story short: I've been a musician for pretty much all my life. After a massive hearing loss, I picked up drums about a year ago and I've had so many great teachers myself. Now the local music school asked me if I could teach drums to their kids. They lost their former teacher due to old age.

I have rarely dealt with children. Sure, I was a tutor for some when it comes down to languages, but teaching music? That is so new to me and I'm actually afraid.

I am all gauntles right now negotiating the deal here: I want espescially girls to learn a new intrument. They must be bored out of themselves just playing the flute, organ and piano.

So, my approach is probably this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VL5oBbriJuQ

:D

Any hints or tips you can give me? Please?

I'm a 38 years old lesbian with basically no clue whatsoever when it comes down to dealing with kids... ^^

EDIT: I'm afraid the girls want me to play pop music on the drums, and I get easily bored by that.

So, last night I had to attend a wake. I don't know if it's only a European thing, my sisters overseas might have to google that one up just in case, but yeah, it was odd. At some point one of my best friends waltzed in with this HUGE guy, like 2 meters tall, and his tiny wife went along as well. My good friend apparently told them who I am, and the huge ass guy and his tiny wife immediately went FAN MODE:

Yoooo, your album from 2008 is in our cupboard!

I'm a shy person and being this overwhelmed with fans, that was very strange and scary to me at first. But we had a good run. Just talking about music nonstop.

To me, which I could laugh about, was the fact that I'm doing very, very different music these days, playing a different instrument, just doing my thing and yeah, I had to share phone numbers with them so I can share what I'm doing now.

A really, really weird, but fun night. Music nerds meeting another music nerd... :D

So, a bit of background about me. I play the drums for fun, used to be a professional musician in the past and basically quit after losing most of my hearing during a live gig with my former band back in 12/2008.

I only started drumming about 10 months ago, I became fairly good quick thanks to some amazing teachers, but only play in my rented session room 4 fun. That is my personal safe space and my version of self therapy.

There's no BS going on in there, just me, drums, a couch for naps, a laptop with webcam for my teachers and a mini fridge for cool drinks.

I suffer from Dysthymia and right now I'm going through a phase of so called double depression again thanks to new meds I couldn't deal with. My thoughts were getting darker and darker, which is almost impossible in the first place, and my energy levels went straight to zero.

Got a text message last night and I thought: 'Ughhh, what's it now? Who wants something from me?' while snug up in my bed.

Yeah, who was that? One of my amazing teachers from the States (I live in Europe) and he was like:

Yooo, haven't heard from you in like two weeks? You doing okay? You good? You haven't booked any new training sessions either.

Yeah, not doing so great right now. It is what it is. Can't say when I want to book a new session to be honest. Everything's fucked in my head right now.

How about you get your ass out of bed and jam with me? I don't want your money, I just want to play with you together, because I think you're awesome and I love your style. I'll never charge money from you ever again, that's a promise. I just want to play along with you, girl!

THAT was a huge compliment. A living music legend like him saying he likes my style?

So, I took my bicycle, hauled my arse over to my session room - which is about 25 minutes away in the middle of nowhere (I live in the countryside) and we just played for about 3 hours until we were both so exhausted, just laughing together, sharing stories and we kicked back a few cold ones via webcam.

That dude is so amazing and chill. And I want to thank him for getting me out of this very dark place last night.
