Wow, that's a pretty insane reaction, why would they say something like th- Oh, I see, they say shit like that all the time and almost no one calls them out on it? They'd kill her with impunity if she were even slightly darker-skinned, and will brook no interference with their ethnic cleansing? It's a good thing that the ICC is at least reining them in befo- oh, they've also been largely impotent to stop the bloodbath from flying off the rails?

Well, this is disappointing. I couldn't find the footage I'd watched of COs murdering Messiah Nantwi, but it's worse than I thought - his death via similar means in a NY prison isn't the only one to have been reported on recently. Turns out the one that I was thinking of was actually Robert Brooks, who was recently beaten to death in a prison infirmary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pHbOuG9c6g8&rco=1

Solid thinking, there's no good sense in wasting a downpour.

I can't be the only one who was rolling their eyes reading the CBC's recent story about Bill 5: https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/bill-5-protect-ontario-by-unleashing-our-economy-act-guide-1.7542478

Bill 5 would scrap Ontario's Endangered Species Act and replace it with an entirely new law called the Species Conservation Act, which critics say waters down protections.

The most significant provisions: changing the definition of a habitat so protection would only apply to an area immediately around an animal's den or nest, and empowering the government to overrule the province's independent scientific committee that classifies species as endangered or threatened.

The government calls this a "new approach" to protecting wildlife, plants and other species, and justifies the changes on the basis of efficiency.

I'm reminded of the Looney Tunes episode, "No Parking Hare", on that particular point in fact. The lack of sincerity in the proposed watered-down revision couldn't be more clear.

The video of the incident, accidentally recorded by a member of the corrections staff on bodycam, is stark. I'll encourage anyone commenting to watch it first, it's bad, like Kelly Thomas bad.

Hell yes, cicadas!

My pleasure, thanks for the quick edit.

It's already all over for that asteroid. Next thing it knows, it'll default on loan payments which China generously extended for the construction of a space port. /s

Just tie off the sleeves and neck or your shirt, then butterfly-net those babies. It's not easy, but it's better than trying to catch them by hand. Hold gentle like hambirdger.

I've been hearing it for years, the same as outright boycotts. It's not that people don't care, it's that not enough people care for it to make a difference. For every person pissed about getting burned on a $60+ purchase for a dogshit game, there are 99 more who'll eat it and move on without caring all that much. You've got to improve the content at home, where it counts without worrying about the drek getting turned out by large companies/studios. Invest in indie, or shop around is the best bet IMO.

Every day, a half-dozen times a day. Always so cautious and easily startled, I love the fluffy little bugs 🐰🐰

Let's see 'em, post your favourite weed culture notables. My pick is Willie Nelson; he's got a ton of great albums and songs from his decades (1962-2025) as a musician. A fine gentleman, and great ambassador for our best-loved plant.

Add to that, if you put Always On My Mind (1982) on the jukebox, it'll clear the out all the squares just like In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida by Iron Butterfly and I'll Do Anything For Love (But I Won't Do That) by Meatloaf.

"Nelson has been arrested several times for marijuana possession. The first occasion was in 1974 in Dallas, Texas. In 1977, after a tour with Hank Cochran, Nelson traveled to The Bahamas. Nelson and Cochran arrived late to the airport and boarded the flight without luggage. The bags were later sent to them. As Nelson and Cochran claimed their luggage in the Bahamas, a customs officer questioned Nelson after marijuana was found in a pair of his jeans. Nelson was arrested and jailed. As Cochran made arrangements to pay the bail, he took Nelson a six-pack of beer to his cell. Nelson was released a few hours later. Inebriated, he fell after he jumped celebrating and was taken to the emergency room. He then appeared before the judge, who dropped the charges but ordered Nelson to never return to the country."
