I dont fully understand either, thats why I wanted to join an instance to see the difference. So far it looks like Mastadon but you can filter your feed based on "most boosted", "most liked", "most commented", instead of only a chronological feed only. it also has a feature called "circles" which I think is the equivalent of a facebook group but I haven't tried it yet.

Thank you for sharing the links! I just signed to one of them.
I am also surprised how much money they were able to raise. I hope they deliver on the things they promised
I agree! Its shouldn't be legal to have houses as investments.
Lack of communicating with OP would be nice but its nice to just mirror their page if they are content creators
Thanks, I didn't know Peertube had a built in tool for mirroring a channel. I will look into that.
I just found out about lemmit.online from the other answers and I agree with you on having be a different instance is good practice.
Thank you for sharing the links and for pointing out this has potential copyright issues. I think its still good to have these tools though.
Thanks anyway. I will keep trying, I hope somebody else tries it and it works.
Thanks for writing this! I've been trying to use my old samsung as a server. Have you trying using it to host a fediverse server? Do you think thats possible?
In Amharic, spoken in Ethiopia, you use the the formal you in formal settings (mostly work or legal related matters) or when speaking to an elderly person. The informal you has variations for women and men but the formal you is gender neutral.
This is amazing news, especially since they are getting 150 million euro funding for future projects! Excited to see what they do next.
A small device that you plug in and lets you self host with a simple sign up would be a game changer.
I dont have a lot of technical knowledge in self hosting and I've been trying and failing to host fedi services following the documentation and youtube tutorials, I know I will figure it out eventually but an easier solution would be nice as well.
As others have said, you can do this using Ghost, Drupal, or Wordpress, and Im guessing you can build it on anywebsite.
This is an example of a blog that does what you suggest. It has nine comments in the article and they are from Mastadon: https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2025/11/now-witness-the-power-of-this-fully-operational-fediverse/
