It’s wild that Marcus Aurelius had so many kids in part to help the empire when he was the last of the five good emperors who were all adopted into the family. I’ve always thought that they were the good emperors because they actually were selected for the job. I don’t know if there is scholarship to back that up or just an assumption I’ve made. But it seems like the empire would have been better served by adopting someone with talent.

I voted for Harris but I was screaming the whole election that she was going to lose because she needed to distance herself from Biden quickly. She started well by picking Walz but then Velcroed herself to Biden after that. It sapped all the energy out of her campaign. Just fucking idiotic.

Fifteen years ago I made killer sourdoughs. The key to crust is steam. The way I did it was get a service tray full of river rocks (from the hardware store, it is important that they are the right rocks because the wrong ones could explode). Get them good and hot (I’d let them heat up at baking temp for an hour or two before waking up).

Put your bread on the baking stone over the stones then with a super soaker blast them with water and close the door. WATCH OUT FOR THE COPIOUS AMOUNTS OF SCALDING STEAM. This will make delicious crusts. I learned this from one of Thomas Keller’s cook books. Probably the baking one.

1. Fuck off with this. Trans people are our brothers and sisters and they deserve our vocal and unabashed support just like anyone else. These policies are going to kill many of them. Our love for them may save lives because it shows them that people have their backs. And it is simply the right thing to do. Triangulating is not working as a political strategy. Stand on some fucking morals for once.

2. Fascism is all about finding a minority and shitting on them. This version is leveraging trans people and immigrants to shit on. Being vocally pro trans is about as anti fascist as you can be right now.

Fascism seeks to divide people. We fight that by fighting for the people who are most marginalized and who they wish to separate from our communities.

Good for that guy. I don’t really fault kids like that for terrible beliefs. But I do fault them as they age and fail to reconsider the shitty things their community taught them.
