Yes, I think the problem description fits for moving from static website to having a database and a web service ( with or without javascript, could be just forms, check htmx.org ). For example, if you know Python you could go and check Django. But there are many other ORMs, all aiming to make working with databases easier. Btw, I am not expanding the ORM acronym because it would only add noise. OP should look into that, and understand why these 'frameworks' are called like that... Good luck!

It saddens me that people are just looking at the 'overview' (2-3 reports by 1-2 users, here at YTPB, all in a few days) instead of doing their own research. This announcement right here, includes a disingenuous 'tldr' that seems to now be pointing fingers to the instance admins on feddit.org (like, extending the accusations that fell upon c/europe moderation team).

followed the original community (!europe@feddit.org now has a fork under this instance), and I couldn't say they're zionists, nazis or anti-semites. Those who are doing it, stretching these concepts, do it with an agenda (either theirs or 'given')...

I wonder which one is that group of Zionist users, will have to follow the link to the community you mentioned.

Btw, the small community that defederated feddit.org on this matter is listed in the announcement: https://feddit.org/post/12529640

I am not disingenuous toward the issue, but I might be biased since it's my understanding that Internet always has too many warriors-from-the-sofa. The real issue is with the german law, which might be too restrictive, and that's why I believe your initiative here is welcome.

For the record, I live in Germany, attended demostrations or universities camps in support of Palestine and even there, organizers ask you not to use the phrase "from the river..". That's how f**-up it is. I have seen discussions among the left, some wouldn't show any support for Palestine mostly out of fear (and, sure, ignorance, which in a way would makes you an accomplice to genocide).

+1 I use it to on all of my devices for sharing 1 folder, just set one as introducer, and keep adding nodes (e.g. phone, Work mini, laptops, PC, ...) Once you have that set, start adding folders as needed for specific cases (e.g. a folder shared among all mentioned except for Work mini.)

Coalition talks were sh*t? no surprise. I bet majority of those votes were from AfD :P

I was in love with this brand because they supported rooting (halfway into actually owning your device.) but that's no longer the case, so... I couldn't care less if this model is available in my region

In the past there was some "Identity Management" server that was centralizing the accounts of matrix.org or any other instances, and it was managed by Vector which was an ONG or Company... Nowadays, I see no mention to it in documentation (at least from my quick overview) and vector.im redirects to element (matrix client). Did anything change? Do anyone know? The lack of transparency over Vector.im made me reluctant to recommend Matrix as a really federated alternative to messaging.

I second this! FYI, XMPP is the one protocol that as been forked over and over... it's the base of all (or many) messaging apps (incl. whatsapp). The thing is that XMPP has all this "Extensions" to their protocol, and it's difficult to implement or have a federated protocol that goes like that, with so many variations... that are implemented or installed on servers, and then also used by clients (e.g. Conversations is a great app on mobile, but not ready for just an average joe or my grandma)... I reckon snikket doesn't implement OTR (the end-to-end encryption of XMPP), that could be a downside to some. But, please, reconsider if you really need that.. if you happen to self-host, and then use SSL to encrypt on transit, and storage is encrypted on the server... that's already pretty much everything we need/ want in most cases (e.g. communicating with family safely.)

The only contender would be hosting an email server (which is tough, dependes on your luck with getting a 'clean' IPv4) on a cheap VPS (say €5 per month, for all users) and then install Delta Chat.

Indeed. Yet, at least to me, it's informative nonetheless... just around 2 weeks ago I noticed that mapy.cz was no longer available and it really saddened me because it was the only alternative and serious contender to Google (...other than OSM, of course.)

AFAIK that was a telemetry issue that was fixed (but very poorly addressed.) last year. Then someone posted about it recently...
