I see old religions often had sacrificial rituals and even today have remnants of that. Was there anything to that?

No. It is up to you what you believe, and while it may be healthy to have a positive belief structure related to the removal of bad things and the conversion of subpar things to better things, the actual purposeful destruction of good things should get no positive feedback. Essentially: deities are are not made happy thru sacrifice or loss but thru creation and growth of what matches their energy, causes revisit, and increases their further growth.

excuse me but you aren't aggressive enough for this area.

i haven't really thought about it. generally tho i don't reach out to harm people when they haven't harmed me. so if there is a community i don't want to see, like about some anime, I block it so i don't see it instead of do anything negative to them. I know I'm the minority though.

i mostly use downvotes to feedback bad behavior; nothing to do with communities i don't want to see.

i love banning people, especially with tesh's option to 'ban from all moderated communities', but i noticed that when i make a new community the ban list starts empty again. is there a way to import my full ban list from my oldest community?

its like a haiku but better

Since multiple communities i moderate are ai related, posts often get anti ai downvotes from people from the wider lemmy.

Something I learned to do that I am now doing with all my communities is this.

Let's say i post an ai image. It get's 5 downvotes by anti ai people who, instead of block the community to not see the content, attempt to attack and force the post downward. Just by doing so, they show their intent is to harm content reach instead of support it and that the community is healthier with them unable to touch it. So I then select each of the 5 downvoters and select 'ban from all moderated communities'. Sounds simple enough, right? And it's sort of power trippy. I don't even bother typing reasons. And eventually the community would be cleansed.

But here's the trick.

Make a post with content matching what is appropriate for your community. Do the normal banning of downvoters. Then edit the post to change the title and then delete and hide it. Then post again the exact same content and title. Again weed the downvoters. Again delete and repost. I call it SpeedCleansing. And at the end of it, you are left with an unattacked post which can finally stay up.

Enjoy

type 1: EXTREME SUSPICION THINK EVERYTHING IS AI GENERATED. Thrash wildly when presented all images, audio, text, and movies in a desparate attempt to prove whether it's ai and should thus be shunned and hated.

type 2: not really care

oh interesting thank you for explaining. i do understand! that is sort of what i was thinking as far as wondering if i had done an actual good deed or if it could cause an overall net negative like that. You see the net negative possibility of how it turned out that also caught my attention i think.

unrelated because my behavior wasnt based on it, but in answer to your question she seemed middleclass and not poor nor a scrounger; probably wealthier than me (my behavior was a combination of 'sharing bounty that just befell me, doing good deed, plus she had just wished it'. It was a rare opportunity to instantly fulfill someone's wish. Didn't think of class stuff at all in the moment, but also i rarely do as a person)

thank you for the explanation! I appreciate the perspective!
