On the contrary, many ladies sacrifice their right to reproduce for the common good. Males are welcome in any beehive, no matter what their origin is. Sick bees let themselves out voluntarily, but the queen is too important for the community so that she submits her fate to the communal decision. I've done queen transplantations and saw bees kick and bite their queen to death if she is too injured with my own eyes.
You should remember, that worker bees are totally able to lay eggs, those are not fertilized so could only breed males though, but it's totally valid way to spread their genetics. They just choose not to (and prevent peers from doing this). And the queen is grown from a regular bee by feeding it differently, you can literally make bees do that by placing the egg in correct position or just removing the queen and other larvae that are being grown into queens if present.
