I just gave up

at some point, I realized I don't ever want to be their idea of a perfect person to loan money to (read: perfect person to drown in debt and make as much money as possible from), and I wear that "unworthiness" as a badge of honor

only there to disadvantage poor people

it's awesome how much money I'm paying various apartment management contractors to pull exactly the same data from exactly the same government agencies and credit bureaus. sometimes multiple apartments use the same application/screening contractor, but they wont re-use the data they pulled without charging me again - it's not even a week old! some of these are public records they're pulling! and I already have a current copy of my credit report I could provide them! they tried to legislate a 'comprehensive reusable tenant screening report' here (washington state USA), but it's not mandatory to accept it 🀦the whole thing is scam after scam, double- and triple- dipping

how much do you want to bet some people own apt management companies AND application/screening companies? if my finances were tight, applying for multiple places would be out of the question

equifax/transunion: we're going to hold all your personal information in a database to "determine your credit worthiness." don't worry, it's totally secure- WHOOPS, we got hacked! guess everyone has your personal information and phone number now

me: *uses a separate phone number for various purposes to manage spam and potential identify theft from data breaches

equifax/transunion: oh, look! we don't care why, but there are "too many different phone numbers" being reported for you. we're lowering your credit score

me: sigh 🀷

cash app recently started working where just a month ago the play integrity check would fail, and you couldnt log in.

also shoutout to USAA for not checking and allowing use on rooted devices (after an appropriate warning)

I love the pi zero version- it's a great toy and occasionally a useful tool. was hoping the CM5 version would use 18650, but Ill still buy this with the flat battery.

Tea tree oil might help. It doesnt do anything for how much you sweat, but it can do a good job of killing the things that cause the smell. A drop goes a long way, can use with antiperspirant.

After being a vanilla vi then vim user for a long time before switching to neovim, I find folke's which-key plugin to be very helpful. If i begin a key shortcut combination (or press my leader key), it shows me all the keys I can press next, and again after each additional step of a multi key sequence, and what each key sequence does. it works for mappings Ive added (usually basically the defaults for a new plugin) but also the standard built-in preset keymappings (see the 'built-in' plugins for which-key) for things like window mamagement and motions, using/viewing the registers (what did I just yank?), even spelling corrections, which helps you learn and build muscle memory. Often I dont use a specific mapping for a while and this helps me find it, especially when I group mappings by plugin, and/or prefix all mappings for a particular plugin or task with an additional prefix letter, so they all appear as options when I get as far as rembering "all my debugging mappings start with my leader key, followed by d." By grouping tasks and plugins that way, I can press my leader key and see a list of where to go next, almost like browsing a menu hirearchy. "i dont remember which button to press after leader and d to toggle a breakpoint, but I know that's where I'll find it"

FYI they sell one that can be reprogrammed. It's still USB PD, but that covers most use cases.

They also sell a kit of compatable barrel jack plug adapters of many shapes and sizes.

If the FTC was doing their job, they would end, and actively work against the venue ownership and ticketing system monopoly, as well as limit ownership of housing and rental property. Dictating fees must change from "hidden" to "listed clearly up front" doesnt address the problem: monopoly pricing and shady practices from a lack of effective competition.

"Could not find a suitable release"

but I see the apk there on the page when I open it in a browser. maybe youve added some extra apk link detection, or your setup is different from mine. can you confirm the shared link works for you as-is when added again to obtanium? Im using v1.1.52

ed: FYI there is an app config listed for peertube in obtanium's "crowdsourced configurations" link that works for me, even if the version string is a bit wonky (but that frustratingly happens often with obtanium). it downloads the same v1.0.1 apk

Oh this is some sort of "all the news of the day" article, where the headline is talking about three different things- not really great for posting on lemmy imho. Better to post an individual article about the subject you want to share.

I wanted to see the dual screen cyberdeck (with a 23inch eink display!) that also somehow meant the end of LG smarphones called "Lilbits"

There are many, many programs - sometimes as simple as a one-form rebate - available to help with and often completely cover costs related with:

  • replacing grass lawns with native plants, drought resistant plants and food gardens
  • adding cisterns, rain barrels and grey water systems
  • replacing with or adding new "smart" sprinkler controllers that check weather forecasts to plan irrigation around the rain
  • ordering and planting trees, including fruit trees
  • compost barrels, compost and mulch, drip irrigation hoses, pool covers, and more

Some of my favorites include programs where you can get trees delivered and sometimes even planted for free, programs to help restore local parks and buisness landscaping to native flora, volunteer programs to remove invasive species from local parks, and money for replacing turf lawns with plants, bushes and trees that help bird and beneficial insect populations. Sometimes lanscaping companies and volunteers can even do the work utilizing the grants and rebates with little or no cost to you! Shoutout to the arbor day foundation that provides native trees, delivered to your door.

Here is a list (not just the US) of programs, and another here. Your local water utility likely has a list of rebates and such available in your area, as well as your county extension office if youre in the US, and any government office from city up to the federal level, especially if you live in a drought prone area like the southwestern US. You can also search for "xeniscaping" to find more, or talk to your local hardware store or nursery.
