I've been using Google home minis for voice control. Apart from getting away from Google, I'd like to see some modding to use their mics and speakers. I've liked using them as a Chromecast device from squeezelite, but I think that could even be possible with esp.

Squeezelite is great. I also run it on Windows and RPis. My favorite combo has been the Zero 2 W with a hifiberry zero DAC.
