Is the civil rights movement not taught in schools anymore? As long as we avoid another Kent State this is just how it's always worked. Whining about it by the protesters just shows a lack of understanding in regards to how the world works. Have they not even seen Greta Thunberg getting arrested? Amateurs!

It would put Israel "on the back foot" in regards to the conflict. Israel would be tied up negotiating for hostage release which is exactly where Hamas wants them. It stops being a question of who is winning a battle and turns it into "how much is Israel willing to sacrifice".
