Often people wait too long before starting to defrost their holiday turkey, which can take many days. (I've heard something like 2 days/kg [24hours/lb], but never done it myself) Inexperienced cooks will then try to "save time" in the oven by increasing the ambient heat, ruining the food.

Either that or it's some confusing analogy with climate change that I don't "get".

I think voting for a D in the general is generally a good harm reduction strategy. That said, I'm a big fan of the Working Families Party, tho they aren't active where I'm at. They seem to be "more practical" at gaining political power, while still fairly well-aligned with the DSA about how it should be used.

I, too, started looking for something "left" of the DNC in 2016; I was a fan of Bernie [and other progressives].

Can you visualize a future situation in which you feel joy? That's reason enough to stick around.

I wish you weren't suffering. I'm cis, so I've not experienced the particular suffering you describe in you headline, but I hope you can survive it and still find joy in the future.

I have been looking for a job for about 5 months now, and submitted dozens of applications, but no interviews yet. I have a lot of privileges that mean this is not as stressful to me as it could be, but I still feel incomplete and insecure without a job. In any case, I hope you find a job that values you.

Be well; do good.

Censorship of the Four boxes of Liberty is not a good sign.

It's easier for me to us Patreon, because I'm already supporting a few other people/organizations there.

I've never used Ko-fi for a subscription.

I can't recommend GitLab* but they also have a pages feature that I use. E.g.: https://bss03.gitlab.io/halogen-lambda/

*: At least one of their leaders is a MAGA collaborator, and the organization is pushing AI in the common, dishonest methods.

Global warming is independent of population, emissions can be controlled without population controls.

Yes, they do need more people, and immigration is a possible "solve", but right now they aren't getting the immigration necessary -- tho largely due to their own policies.

We need less people

No we don't. And, S. Korea in particular will need more people than they have available, soon.

Smaller economy is fine, I guess -- tho deflation has certainly caused problems in the past. Better distributed wealth is a shared goal. Depopulation, and other forms of Degrowth, are largely driven by eugenicist ideas and are neither necessary nor desirable: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OW8vkUY93i8

He doesn't upload frequently, and it's usually nice info for an Arkansan. :)

The hosting provider I'm using makes ATM 9 much easier, but I'm still trying to decide what to install for my "holiday" Minecraft server. My friend group tends to play a lot between Halloween and New Years, but then we get busy with other things.

Which of these will have enough, but not too much, content. All of us have played modded before, though it's a mixed bag which mods we each know.

If there's a different pack that I should be looking at, I'm down. I think these were picked because they have the new EIO.

This was already featured in the Weekly News a couple of weeks back, but I think maybe it deserves it's own thread. I've tried to explain this approach to some people before, but I think this article does a much better job than I have.

I do think the "Defeating" in the title might be a little bit negative, it's have preferred something neutral like "When your result type depends on your argument values", but it's still something useful to know from retaining your type safety.

This existentials and GADTs can be converted into a CPS style without type equality constraints (usually, with enough work) so that you can start from this description but use it in languages with less sophisticated type systems -- as long as they have parametricity -- like Haskell 2010.

With UndecidableInstances, the answer is a resounding yes, with a fairly direct implementation. Without it, I keep getting stuck, though I'm not as comfortable with type families as some.

(I'm not OP on Masto, but I am interested in the answer.)
