I sit in r/datahoarder a lot and the general consensus is that BTRFS is unstable and should not be used, and instead people should use EXT4 or ideally ZFS. I know ZFS is the gold standard and expected to be more resource intensive and RAM hungry. Can you shed some light on why you’d use BTRFS?

I really like the Fractal Design Node 804 which will hold 10 drives and will likely be the next case that I build in.
You could also go with the Phanteks Enthoo Pro 2 which should hold 12 drives.
The 8TB Samsung drives are what, $400? Get yourself a 5400RPM drive for half the cost and twice the space.
How long have they been on for? No way in hell would I trust my data to drives that have been on for 10 years.
Why would it “break”? Isn’t the 4096 the block size setting?
