I think I managed a checkmate and it still wasn't happy!
A box has just turned up with My City: Roll & Write and Lost Cities (unintended city theme in this order), so I'll be playing those!
So you can see what they post and boost! It's possibly more for following Mastodon accounts, so you'll see these in the microblog. Following kbin users from Mastodon works well too, you'll see all threads, posts and comments.
Tried twice, got stuck on the chess notation each time, even though I thought the move I was putting in was pretty good, it obviously wasn't the best.
For posts, you just need to go to subs and then microblog. Unless you mean threads, in which case I think they will show up on the main subs view (although I haven't tested this). Comments I don't think show up in subs - it only shows threads. If you go to their profile you can see them though. Maybe a feature request to add a Comments section to the top header?
I'm now getting a 500 on https://fedia.io/all and on https://fedia.io/mod/microblogMy subs (where I've been spending most of my time), and the main microblog feed are working fine. Odd.

Yay, Jerry, you are awesome! It was working somewhat better (but still many 500s, could at least browse the main thread listings) since the updates a couple of days ago, and now I can't get it to fail at all. Hopefully it's fixed. Appreciate all the effort you have put into this, really liking the kbin experience so far.
I can see that following a book might make sense. Maybe put a feature request in at https://github.com/bookwyrm-social/bookwyrm ?
You turn up and my 500 errors go away! I take it the federation breaking and the 500 errors are linked?
Following magazines doesn't work currently, I think that's a known bug (or not implemented feature).
It will only pick up hashtags from accounts that are being followed by accounts here (and in theory on other kbin instances, although I'm not convinced the magazine hashtags federate)
There seems to be issues following certain account, if it's set as a bot kbin won't even see it, and I suspect there are other causes of this too (maybe follower approval?)
