🎉 1K And A Heartfelt Thank You

It’s already been over a month since we crossed the 1,000-subscriber milestone! I wanted to take a moment to thank every single one of you for being part of this community. When I took over as moderator just over a year ago, we were a small group of ~30 subs with virtually no engagement. Seeing a relatively niche space like this grow has been very exciting. This is the first community (lemmy or otherwise) that I've moderated and helped grow and I'm grateful for anyone who has posted, commented or upvoted here.

I also want to give a special shoutout to @Blaze@lemmy.dbzer0.com who has been very helpful over the past year. And has really been a beacon of the broader community as well.

Let’s Talk Art

While I’m happy to celebrate this milestone, the real reason for this post is because I have a request: Do we have any artists or graphic designers here?

I’d love to commission a custom banner that captures the essence of animation and aligns with our community’s vibe. If you’re interested (or know someone who might be), please comment below or message me directly. I’m happy to discuss details, vision, and compensation. I’d much rather collaborate with members here before looking elsewhere.

Thanks again for making this corner of the internet so nice and enjoyable. Here's to a thousand more.

First Cats, now this 😭

Started watching Lazarus. I'm not enjoying it as much as Shinichirō Watanabe's other works that I've seen, but I'm only 3 episodes in so we'll see how it goes.

Please use spoiler tags where appropriate.

I don't think there exists one on lemmy right now. I would recommend thinking about starting your own. You can have discussions about it here, but that's not really our focus and it would probably be better to create a dedicated community for it.

Edit: Having said that, there are a bunch of Blender communities. As well as a FreeCad community. Take a look at https://lemmyverse.net/ and see if you can find a community that fits what you need, perhaps one that you can help revive.

One of the top youtube comments cracked me up:

"as if kpop idols aren't overworked enough now they have to hunt demons too"

Damn that's disappointing. I thought the first movie was pretty solid

Hey thanks a lot for this. I forgot that it's paywalled by default 😅

Lol true. At least it's still going to be released in full on Youtube as well.

Huh, maybe I'll check it out then. I dropped MHA mid s3.

This is a good reminder for me that I should get around to watching Heavy Metal 2000 at some point.

What did you think of Justice League Crisis on Infinite Earths pt 1? Personally I thought it was mediocre but I liked the Barry and Iris plotline.

I'm kind of with you on Jujutsu Kaisen. Really the only reason I watch it is because of the animation quality.

!animation@lemm.ee is doing pretty well. We're close to a thousand subscribers. One thing I've noticed is that even on the occasional days where there are no new posts, we're consistently getting new subscribers. I'm guessing it's a testament to the staying power of certain posts and also the fact that the community is pretty high up in various animation/anime/cartoon related directories.

It's something that's made me more comfortable with going a day or even multiple days without a new post whereas in the past I would desperately search for anything remotely relevant to post and sometimes find myself a little burnt out because of that. Now, not only are there a decent number of other regular posters but I don't really freak out too much if I can't find anything compelling and relevant to post.
