Haka have been traditionally performed by both men and women for a variety of social functions within Māori culture. They are performed to welcome distinguished guests, or to acknowledge great achievements, occasions, or funerals. [...] Although popularly associated with the traditional battle preparations of male warriors, conceptions that haka are typically war dances, are considered erroneous by Māori scholars, alongside the inaccurate performance of haka by non-Māori

You could upload it to iNaturalist and people will help you out there ;)

Looks like an orchid or could be a parasitic plant maybe? Well, the earth is huge and no location is given, so could be anything...

Yeah, that was weird to watch. Not sure if the speaker realizes how bad this new tech still looks.

And in the end he said that it is very important to use these AI models "with the full permission of the talent" and that they "had full access and the rights to the training data". He obviously just considers Harrison Ford in this moment, but does he realize what that would mean regarding the AI models and their training data they use? And was the presented short film also created with full permission of all artists contributing to the training data? Was this just a blatant lie to make it sound like they work responsibly with AI?

Still feels pretty cis-heteronormative and binary to me :(

Weird article. It begins with a brief paragraph of the question of how life started and amino acids, but then goes on to talk about speciation and polyploidy. In the end, nothing is resolved and you are send to read somewhere else. With a basic (modern) understanding of polyploidy, nothing new is told here...

Well, AFD are especially advertising to young men and cis men are much more likely to have conservative values (because they benefit them much more). On the other hand, we have the leftwing emancipatory parties such as Die Linke that are inclusive of everyone else and that probably get more votes of marginalized people.

Hm, I think there are different subgroups of vegans that lead to this ambiguity. Many queer and other marginalized people tend to emphasize with other emancipatory struggles and have an intersectional awareness. Being vegetarian/vegan comes naturally with this.

On the other hand, many vegans I've seen online or that explicitly identify with veganism itself, are heterosexual cis men that made it their identity to be vegan. Maybe a secondhand marginalization they choose in "behalf of the animals" as a way not to confront themselves with their own position of privilege.

I feel like any vegan organization will be full of the latter sort because it is about identifying strongly with veganism. That's how Peta has made sooo many discriminatory advertisements and why vegan organizations often are shitty to marginalized people. If they had more of an intersectional point of view, this would certainly not happen!

I'm vegan and trans btw :)

SPD is center and conservative, CDU is on the right to far right, AFD are fascists. So half of the young people voted for right-leaning to outward fascist parties. (Last Bundestagswahl young people also heavily voted for the FDP.)

I bet this has to do with the divide of young cis men and everyone else. But young people certainly aren't only voting for the left in Germany!

I've never been into torrenting stuff but usually just do streaming via the usual sites (I usually use any site that fmhy recommends). However, I've noticed that most pirate streaming sites have much slower load rates and need a long time to buffer than commercial streaming sites. This often means that I cannot watch an episode in full but have to pause to buffer... As you can tell, I'm a total noob. What can I do to have a nicer experience streaming pirated content?

(And sure, that's probably why people get into torrenting. I already got a raspberry pi that I intent to use for this, but I couldn't find the energy to set it all up yet.)

I'm usually not paying a lot of attention to Mr. Beast and such, but recently one of them came out as trans and so I was interested in how it went. Found this wholesome interview with Kris and thought to share here. Hope you can enjoy it as much :)
