Different strokes for different folks I guess. I consider doing dumb stuff with your friends when you're a kid to be one of life's greatest joys

From what I understand, it's more like a Garry's Mod type game. Just a sandbox that let's you build fun and/or dumb stuff to do with your friends. I've never played but I understood the appeal after it was explained to me that way.

North is arbitrary as well, that doesn't mean you can't use it for spatial referencing.

I loved Timberborn, great game with a fun twist compared to the rest of the genre. I'd also recommend Bannerlords and Foundation, I had a blast with both of those as well.
