TIL having the food, time, relationships, and space that you want is actually bad. We must always desire for more

I don't know. To me agency and free will feel pretty separate. Events are necessitated by the past and the laws of the universe. But us choosing to do something is a part of that, and so are our values. I'm not sure if I would act any different if I believed in Compatibilism or free will, but I don't think I would. How would life be any different?

Unless you're getting determinism mixed up with pre-destination

So, what are the actual hiring laws?

Maybe not technical, but teaching is weird.

If people aren't having fun/engaged they're not learning much. People don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. It's so frustrating to come across someone who writes the standards you're supposed to follow and they are the most boring and fake teacher you've experienced.

I thought for a foreigner to get a job in Canada the company had to prove that there isn't a Canadian who can do the job or something like that.

We got some fun ones by me too, like Ausable river, that comes from French. But we pronounce it Ah-sable(but sable like a sable hair brush)

Reading one piece is like planting a tree, the best time to start is 20 years ago.

My DND group is all men, because it's just me. Someone please play with me.

We've got outdoor cats in coyote country. Haven't had a problem, honestly I'm more afraid of a great horned owl moving in. We've got a dog that barks a lot. Also sometimes our neighbor will shoot a coyote and leave it out there to scare the others off. But the yipping and howling is why I wear earplugs when I go camping, or put a fan of during summer months.

Dunno, I just don't believe my NixOS config files are particularly valuable. What is the benefit of sharing garbage code from a novice? I'd rather share things worth sharing, that could be useful to someone else.

I do the same thing. Anything I put on there isn't something that I would share with the Internet anyway. If it was a serious project, sure. It's just nice to have a personal git you can access over a VPN sometimes.
